Question about Clothing Accessories
I find the users guide very complicated to follow because when I find the info I want, it refers me to another page and that page refers me to another page. Also, the wording is not clear enough on how to change settings. I want to sell a big volume of jewelry on the internet and have to take a close up that shows a necklace and earring set hanging together. The flash reflects too much light off some of the beads so that you can't tell what color they are if I get too close, yet I have to show the detail up close.

The best setting really depends on the type of pictures you want. Do you want a white background and a completely focused picture or do you want a natural background and more artistic type of picture? The latter is easier to produce as it can be done with a soft hand-held flash and almost any kind of natural lighting conditions and you can put it on a surface according to what you want to get - reflection, colors, shadows and what not. Getting a white background takes more lighting effort and way more Photoshop to cut the item from the background. See the picture of the same rings, different style of photography.

When shooting jewelry, the best option is to switch off the flash and use available light. You can use a white paper or thermocol to reflect some light onto the jewelry to enhance detail. If you want to go closer to the jewelry, use the Macro mode (indicated with an icon resembling a flower)
