Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-52W4100 52 in. LCD HDTV
Sony Bravia 52 inch HD-- Watched super bowl at a friend's house.. players appeared to be stretched sideways, gave them a "squatty" appearance. Are all HDTVs like that or is there something that can be done about it?? My friend has no clue about anything electronic so I didn't say anything to him about the appearance. My wife even noticed it. We both agreed that if that's what a big screen HDTV looks like, we'll just stick with what we have...
You may only need to change the format for the picture. Check your owners manual for how to change the picture format, or aspect ratio. The tv may be in the zoom mode the way you describe it. There is likely an option in the menu to allow the unit to automatically set the format based opon the signal being received. Only some of the programming you see is actually HD. The Super Bowl was broadcast in HD and has a 16:9 aspect ratio (width to height). When this set is adjusted for a correct HD display I'm confident you will be impressed. So I believe this is a matter of a customer setup with the remote. If I had the unit in front of me I could offer more detail. I hope my general opinion helps.
