So how do you get a new sending unit in there? and how much do they run? my jeep has the same problem. Also if anyone knows how to fix the rear latch so you can open it that is broken as well. I need to open to fix and to get to my tail lights to replace them. If gauge is pegged full then while driving goes empty then full then 1/2 it is the circuit board inside the fuel tank that has gone bad. to get the tank to register correctly then you must remove tank remove fuel pump module the float arm can be adjusted to read correct level
Could be a problem with the gauge in the instrument cluster, or the wiring that goes back to the tank, or the sending unit in the tank. The sending unit has a float much like your toilet which could stick or fail to move.
