Did you recently move any jumpers on the motherboard? Some motherboards require a jumper be in a specific location when the power button is pushed in order for the system to start.

unplug your PC, open your case, remove the Cmos battery

remove any add-on PCI cards (such as modem)

    wait 10 min

put your Cmos battery back in

plug it up, turn it on

    did that help??

I assume that your computer doesn't start at all. If that is the case then try with another power supply. Still no result --- then mother board needs repairs or purchase a new one.

The drive is actively running but does not appear on my desktop. I've checked all of the connections. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you, Jerry Cortez

hi Jerry , okay there can be a number of reasons for this ?

what system are you using ? a Windows Setup
USB connection type

1. have you tried the device on another PC ?
2. if you 're using a lead , have you tried another lead ?
3. does the drive etc require a power supply to connected as well.

Firstly you must prove to yourself the hardware is workign okay and the connectors etc are okay

Then you look at the software such as the system you're using ,.

Washer does not power up

You said the power button checked out ok. 99% of the time the button is the problem. Push the start button. You should hear and feel a click when you do so, also it should be a distinct click.

Computer will not turrn on hp a 1230n

Hi Raul,
Try this following instruction to isolate the problem.
1. Check the power outlet/AVR if it has an output, if okay,
2. Check the wire if okay, often times, the wire is damage or open. try to use another cable.
3. If the wire is okay, try to isolate the power supply, remove the power supply connection to the board and short the color gray and green wire to see if the power supply is working, if the power supply turned on then its ok.
4. It the power supply is working, try to check the power on button, it might have a problem. to override the power on button you can short the pins inside the board where the wire from power button is connected to motherboard.

Need to find a control circuit for the push button to start the PC

There isn't any control circuit, unless you mean on the system board. The power switch is just a simple normally-open pushbutton switch that's wired to a 2-pin plug (or 2 pins in a larger plug) that connects to the system board. When you push the button it signals the system board to turn on the power supply and start up. If you're having the problem that your computer isn't starting, you may have a bad power supply or system board.

Computer will not turn on at all. Dell Dimension 5100 desktop

I would unplug the power supply from the motherboard, wait a little while and then plug it back in.
Try to power everything back up and it should come up.

I am assuming you are getting a light on the motherboard that indicates power is being supplied?

E-Machines T2891 PC Desktop will not start when power button push

KingPin, is there any sign of life at all? Any lights, whiring, harddisk spinning?? Is there an LED (small light) visible on the motherboard when the power is on???
If nothing, certainly a power problem - but where. While you have the case open looking for the lit LED on the mobo, can you see any capacitors, the little cylinder-type components on the mobo circuit board that look like little batteries standing up, there'll be about half a dozen of them, that look like they may be bloated, or like a coke can left in the freezer about to explode. Do any of these capacitors look like they could be oozing goo, maybe a yellowish rusting liquid. If any do, this is not good.
If none of that applies the next step is to check your power supply. I would not suggest an amateur to do this over a step-by-step chat as it involves shorting out points and if the system is live, the wrong points shorted, well, guess you'd know what could happen (not good). The power supply is not easy to diagnos for errors, they're tricky buggers that can test well for voltage but once a load is put on them they roll over and play dead. Get an expert to test your power supply, very simple task of they plugging in a PSU tester (or borrow one, or buy one).
Please keep us informed on how you go - seriously, we grow stronger as we grow wiser when we finish a job.

Emachine with XP home edition doesn't start

Hi hearalso, down to the basic's. Replace power cord.
No help there than, remove the case's side panel to expose the motherboard. (Normally it is the left side panel while facing the front of the PC.)
Look closely for a small (green in color) led light. The power cord must be connected to the PC & connected to you're power strip but do not press the power on button on the PC.
The green led tell's you the board is receiving 5volts. Check all connections. Un-plug & reconnect every data & power connector in your PC. (Double check). There is a fuse inside your power supply that may have blown. Check you're manual page, Approva Statements B-1. Fuse Warning Instruction Caution.
Check fuse in power supply. (Unplug power cord before opening).
If you can not power up the PC after all of the above than if possible, swap out the power supply.
Replacing the power supply is the last step.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
Good Luck!
