parkranger68: Thanks for the info regarding the Kenwood square belt replacement. You mentioned that you replaced the laser assembly also. Our problem is severe slippage on the tracks after playing a few tracks which becomes worse as it plays longer. Where did you get the laser assembly in case this also needs to be replaced. Thanks

You can get a replacement belt here, since Kenwood no longer have these belts.
It is 1.5 inches, which is a little small, but it worked fine for me, I just replaced the exact same belt along with the laser assembly. Not an easy job!! Good luck.

I have a vintage record player sound design model 84520-2 which plays slow and makes a weird noise ? Any suggestions ?

If it is a belt driven model check the belt. Also make certain there is no grease of foreign objects in the mechanism. Often the belt and mechanism can be seen under the turntable matt.

Although this say 'vintage', try them. They may well be able to do by size rather than model.

Loading judder, is there a tray mechanisim out there ?

You may just need a belt- it depends on what you can see what is happening. MCM Electronics has small square belts that could resolve the issue. There is a Marantz/Denon service parts place but you need to have a service manual to be able to order the part you want. It is probably a simple belt replacement.

Where can i find the little rubber belt that connect the motor to the drive gear that opens the CD drawer in my CD player

Depends on which Yamaha CD player you have. But this part fits many models If you remove the old one and measure it (diameter, width of belt and cross section type e.g. square, flat or round) you can get generic replacements from any decent electronics store for about £1 in the UK. Don't forget to allow for the fact the old belt will have stretched so you'll need a slightly smaller diameter replacement. See here

Have a Kenwood Multiple Compact Disc Player DPM6010. Am trying to re-hook my sound system after moving from NC to OR. All is working except this unit. Have hook it up properly (Ithink, since I can't...

Does your machine scan through the discs? If so the you need a laser and should replace the unit. If you do not hear or see the unit shuffling throug the discs at initial plug in then you have a bad belt that drives the changer mechanism or during your move the mechanisms gear timing has been thrown off by the unit being dropped or bumped rather roughly. Either way it is more than likely going to be more cost effective to replace the unit. Sorry!! Too bad you're not in NC still. That's where I am. I wish you good luck!

WIthout knowing the specific model, I can't be 100% sure, but a number of models in that vintage had a problem with cracked ribbin cables that go to the drawer unit. Replacing the cable usually fixed the problem. What is the specific model number?

Why not plug the cassette directly into the CD recorder? Are they trying to achieve some eqalization change? If not, then this should work. It's all analog at tape level.
