How can i get past an error reading BOOTMGR is missing?

The computer is an acer aspire 7736 running windows 7. Or atleast it was, until I was trying to fix deleted drivers with the acer recovery. Once I started the recovery it froze and since then i get the BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I cannot get into the f8 function or anything else except f2, which does me no good. I do not have a recovery cd of any kind.

Hi.

To recover the system from the hidden partition follow the instructions below.

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the left Alt, and the F10 keys.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the Acer eRecovery Management application has loaded, select your restore type.
  5. Read the notice, and then click Next when you are ready.
  6. Click Next to begin the restore process. The restore can take anywhere fom 10 minutes up to an hour.
  7. Once the restore is complete your computer will reboot. Upon rebooting it will load Windows and start installing your drivers and software. Your computer will reboot several times during this process. After everything is complete your computer will be like it was when you first purchased it.

Regards.

BOOTMGR is missing

There are a number of possible causes for BOOTMGR errors, including the most common "BOOTMGR is missing" error message.

The most common reasons for BOOTMGR errors include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors an outdated BIOS and damaged or loose IDE cables

Anothe reason you might see BOOTMGR errors is if your PC is trying to boott from a hard drive or flash drive that is not properly configured to be booted from. In other words, it's trying to boot

from a non-bootable source. This also would apply to media on an optical drive or floppy drive that you're trying to boot from.

make sure there are no disks in cd floppy usb drives

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE)) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

if its a flat ribbon 40 pin IDE it will be the fist to fail

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs

data and power to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

also make sure you have set it boot from you hard drive in BIOS

hope this helps

My laptop says bootmgr is missing and i dont know how to fix

First make sure that all usb devices are unplugged and remove all cd's or dvd's or sd cards etc.
If you are running Windows 7 or Vista you can try do a repair by hitting F8 while it boots and then select repair. If this does not work you will need a install disc. If you have Windows XP you will need an install CD to do a repair. I have attached a few links that may help explain in detail. Thanks for using fixya.
