Your ground wire has come off. Before you do anything else, turn off your dryer at the breakers or unplug it. Be very careful. Check to see if the ground wire at the receptacle is attached. Then check your plug to see if it is properly wired. The ground portion of the plug will be longer than the other 2 or 3 prongs. The ground wire is green in color. So attach it first and then the other 2 or 3. (This varies from machine to machine.) See that the cord to the machine is properly attached as well. If you have a stand that is touching the body it will give you a shock. Follow this and you should be O.K. Lewt me know how this does.

Dryer gives shocks and only shuts off if door opened

You don't give model/make. I assume you get a shock when you touch the cabinet. I assume, also, that the dryer stops if you turn the timer to OFF. Obviously a line-wire is frayed (not shorted) to the chassis. It could be the 2 wires (+ ground) going to the door switch or 1 of the wires in the harness going from the timer to the motor assembly. Call back with more info.

Went from a 4 prong to a 3 and get shocked sometimes.

You need a meter. Unplug the dryer and check for continuity between either of the 2 hot legs and the frame.

Dryer stop working then start shocking you when touch

The first thing you need to do is turn the breaker off to the dryer , that way you don't risk shock trying to unplug it. The next step is to locate where the wire is arcing over, I would start at where the plug comes into the dryer and move on from there. Thats a very dangerous situation, be careful and good luck

Hello. The fact that you are getting a shock has the potential to injure or even kill you. Something is amiss either within the dryer or with the wiring or the plug. Get a qualified electrician in to check this out and repair it. The fact that your dryer is not working is the least of your problems until your SHOCK hazard is repaired. This is nothing to take lightly. Please have this checked right away. J.

Dryer just stopped working. I get shocked when i open the door or touch any metal part of the machine.

Unless the shock is static electricity, you'd best unplug it and call a professional. You have a dangerous problem.

New Whirlpool Duet gas dryer (wgd9300vu) won't heat.

if its brand new,
anmd its gas, well then more than likely it was dropped, when it was dropped the graphite ignitor craked or broke due to shock impact,
i delivered units for 5 years and saw this numerous times.
I would tell you to fix it your self, but its brand new, if the company you bought it from has service they should give you a free service call and part
