Unfortunately, there is no way to tell which part the microwave needs without opening it up for examination. There are a few parts that, if defective, would prevent the oven from heating.

  • a high voltage transformer which passes energy to the magnetron
  • a magnetron which converts high-voltage electric energy to microwave radiation
  • a magnetron control circuit (usually with a microcontroller)
This is NOT a repair that you would want to attempt yourself. The labor for the repair would cost a minimum of $50 and shouldn't exceed $100. You'll also have to pay for the necessary part if it's still available from the manufacture or their parts distributor.

Our microwave MV-1310 has stopped heating food? How much would it cost to fix it?

The cost depends only after identifying the fault and if this is only a fuse you have just got to replace. So remove power and top cover, check for the fuse near the main power line. If this is OK , check the controller unit and if the microwave works without heating, it can be a faulty waveguide- or a magnetron.
The wave guide is not expensive but the magnetron is the critical and costly part and where you need an estimation.

I have an old Goldstar microwave (MV1140T) that just stopped heating. The fan still works but the food won't heat up. What can I do?

The problem is caused by a bad magnetron, "common problem" or the high voltage capacitor and diode, all three work together to heat the food. The repair cost for parts and labor will be high enough to consider buying a new microwave oven.

you will need to replace the circuit board. Chancers that the key pad is also faulty are slim. Quote model at spares shop and get exact board.

Goldstar microwave

Open the cover and look for a fuse. If it's not blown then the power tube (klystron?) is probably fried.
