Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

8 Answers

Can't put ANY disc in! White plastic piece blocking my way.

I had a game stuck in there and took apart the console very carefully.  I retrieved the game but  I can't get the plastic piece to go down so I can put a game in.  I tried holding the Eject button for 45 secs. and that didn't work.  When I push the Start button on the console it sounds like it is starting, the light turns green then to yellow and then to a flashing red.  Can I do anything to fix it?  If not, where do I send it to get repaired? Three days ago i removed a game from the ps3 and it worked fine. Now there is a little white piece that blocks the disc opening. I cant insert any discs. The ps3 boots fine with no errors. How do I get the white blocking piece to reset itself?

You will have to crack it open again like you did before, when you have the metal case and the top guide cover off you will see 4 little rollers , two on each side, these guide the disk in. .
(with the console front facing you) in th middle you will see the offending white stopper, DONT TRY AND FORCE IT DOWN !!! this will really bugger it up.
the problem is , the system thinks there is still a disc in there , so were gunna trick it o.k ?
to do this you need the system on. for the sake of your eyes put the round white cup with the magnet in it over the lens, magnet side up.
VERY IMPORTANT !!! do not touch anything other than i say.....zap!
turn it on and touch the sensor to load it up (hold the cover over it to locate it exactly)
in front of the right front roller you will see a white stick poking up that has its own little track it can travel around. gently guide that stick back , you should notice the system starting to read and all the rollers will slide open (you may have to help them a little (touch only the rollers)
when there all back , you system thinks theres a disc in , so press the eject sensor (line it up with the cover again)
watch with joy as the white stopper drops down.
good luck

I had the same problem you have to make sure that everything in the blu-ray is lined up perfectally to get it to work. (You might have to take it apart and put it back together a few times)

SOURCE: PLAYSTATION3 80 GB has lights flashing:green, yellow, green then flashing red.had a dvd disk that would not eject.i took it apart and removed disk.the dvd had some damage in one will no

Hi there James
it seems to me like you have the yellow light of death, but don't worry this is something that can be fixed.
You have two options here
Option1 you can send the console to SONY for $150, they will send you a refurbished model oh and all data may be lost. The whole process usually takes about 4-6 weeks.
Option 2You can fix the problem at home with a PS3 repair guide worth only $40 a 3rd of the cost of sony, the ps3 will be fixed within the next hour or 2.
Hope this helps

Disc stuck used screwdriver in bottom ps3 the white plastic piece is blocking it tried holding that down with a knife still didn't work. anyway to get white piece down without taking whole thing apart

There is no other way to get it down. If you want to fix it you will need to take it apart. If you don't want to do it yourself you can hire someone to do it for you. Otherwise you may want to head over to YouTube and find a video with detailed steps outlining how to proceed to your goal.

My ps3 slim blue ray drive will not accept discs. it wasnt reading them so i took the drive out and tried cleaning it but forgot my game was still in it so i removed it manually. when i put it all back...

OK, all the answers I see here don't look like they was reading your problem and what you did. You most likely should take it back apart and put the disc back in it that way. Since you took the disc out the PS3 thinks there isn't and is a disc inside. When you press the eject button it's not going to reset the disc arms inside because there isn't a disc in there and that white thing is there to keep a disc from going in with a disc inside even though there isn't one. You should go ahead and order another laser and when you take it back apart change the laser also slim PS3 are more common on the laser going bad I've changed alot of them. But when you change that make sure you either put a disc back in or move the arms and slides to where it's ready to accept a disc when it's put back together.

I have two discs stuck in my wii, what should I do

If they aren't ejecting out like normal youl need to either
A: purchase a triwing screwdriver (special screwdriver, you can get one on ebay) and take the console apart to retrieve the disk.
(there are lots of videos and walk thru's if you do a google search for "disassemble wii" you'd end up removing a bunch of screws, popping the plastic shell open, pushing the disks out, and putting it back together)

B: send it to someone who repairs them to have them remove the disc. or call Nintendo to have them do it instead

either way,
~good luck!

Didn't eject disc before taking apart to clean laser

there is a certin tool that PS use's to put the ps3 together that stops that part because its a cd restrictive plate that stops multple cds to be in the PS3 at a time. Ur best bet would be to either send it to P.S and have dem fix it for you or bring it to a gamestop or any other gaming store.

Wii would not eject disk so we took it apart and fixed it but while we were doing this a plastic piece fell out of the metal casing over the disk drive now we cant find where it came from so we are now...

what does this "plastic piece" look like??
that said.. I think its the magnetic disc holder (round- white- plastic- fits on a cd...)
, it sits on top of the disc drive in the round hole - it holds the disc to the motor when the disc plays...
You have to put it back in its holder above the disc, it goes on top of the "crossmember" if you put a disc in the drive and set the laser to lift up and grab the disc you will know if you have it right because the "plastic piece" will grab the disc and hold it tight against the motor.
hopefully this solves your problem... comment back if you need more info or if the p[iece isnt what I described and is something totally different.

Wii unable to accept/eject disc making buzzing sound

  • When the disks were put in/taken out the little plastic clips in side the wii may have broken off. Might be stuck near the motor. Gently shake while rotating the the wii with all the cords off with no game inside. listen for anything loose. If your lucky the piece will go to another part of the wii. Best thing is to find someone to take it apart to check.

PS3 won't take disc

when reassembling bluray player you must take care to activate the side tracks (blackbars) back and forth , there should be very little play in the mechanism! there is also an aluminum wing towards the back underside of the blu ray drive. the wings have nipples at the tips that slide in the blackbars. finally put the top lid on, but dont screw it on tight yet. insert a dvd and then tighten the 5 black screws after smooth enrollment. hope this helps. if you like we can do it for you for $30

System wont load or eject any discs...

Remove the disc drive from the console. Remove the cover very carefull. Take the top part off (remove the 5 screws) and open the disc drive like a book.
Carefull remove the guide mechanism (the front part -1 screw).
The clicking noise is caused by the fact that the left side mechanism that raises and loweres the deck when the disk is inserted or ejected is stuck. Carefull push back the piece of plastic with teeth located on the left side of the deck (as you are looking at the disk drive the oposite side with the lens driving motor) until it clears complete the plastic round gear that drives that part.
mount back the guide mechanism, and the top part.
Attached the ribbon cables to the unit , power the console and keep the eject button pushed for about 10-15 seconds.
That will reset all the gears and stuff.
Worked for me when I experienced that issue.

360 disk tray

What I did was took apart my Xbox and put the disc tray back on the tracks, carefully lifting it over the circle thing in the middle. When I lay my Box down horizontally, it opens and closes fine.

"Unplayable Disc"

First of all clean the disc, use warm water and a soft rag. after cleaning the disk, very carefully take apart your XBOX and use the rag to wipe off the eye touch nothing else. Place the XBOX together the same way that you took it apart. Hope this helps!
