You plug it into your modem or your router not your computer.

Yes- don't use USB as an extender- Network spec for Cat 6 without a repeater ranges from about 165 feet to 75... You should be able to run the cable straight through.

How do i hook up my linksys wireless-g broadband router wrt54g-someone disconnected it

Disconnect the power to each unit (except computer, shut it down). After you connect the modem, router and computer, power up the modem, then the router, then the computer.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

I have 10 computers and 2 printers networked in the office. I'd like to hae them all wired. I bought a 10/100 switch but not sure how to hook it up with my router. Any advice?

Most low to mid range switches require no configuration. Switch-to-router connections use a standard straight-through CAT-5 network cable, same as for your PC. Connect any switch port to any LAN port on the router (you didn't say if your router has more than one) and then connect your PCs and printers to the other switch ports with CAT-5 network cables. The WAN port on the router remains connected to the upstream (Internet) provider.

I'm assuming that you have a modem or a modem and router combination with multiple cat5 ourputs. You have tried both computers with the Cat5 cable and they both work fine. If this is the case, I would suspect that you have a faulty fastcat 5 cable.

I HAVE A LINKSYS WIRELESS-g 2.4 BROADBAND ROUTER, 54MBPS. HOW DO I HOOK IT UP TO A MOTOROLA S85101 CABLE MODEM? I KNOW NEXT TO NOTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS

Your router had a outlet marked Internet. You need a CAT 5 cable to plug into that outlet. Plug the other end into the same kind of hole on your modem. make sure your cable is connected. Turn on or plug in your modem. Count to 30. Plut in your router. Count to 30. Turn on your computer. Wait for it to boot up. Use the wiundows wizzard to setup your connection.

Connection

Go to this site to download a manual to verify you have it setup right.
http://www.d-link.com/products/?tab=3&pid=WBR-1310&rev=WBR-1310
or try this first.
Power off your modem,D-Link and PC.
You need to have the cable that looks like a wide phone plug with 8 contacts instead of 4 (cat 5 cable) go from your comcast modem to the plug on back of the D-Link that is marked WAN.
Then plug a cat 5 cable into any of the 1 through 4 Lan ports on back of the D-Link to your PC's Ethernet port.
Then with all these powered off turn on the Comcast modem, wait a full 2 minutes for it to settle in. then turn on the D-Link give it 2 minutes then turn on your PC.
If that doesn't work for you refer to the manual or you have something broke that may require servicing in person by someone computer savvy.
Hope this helps.
