EXTERNAL MOUSE I CAN NOT GET AN EXTERNAL MOUSE TO WORK ON THE ACER ASPIRE.

Try an external mouse and see if gets the same problem - if it does, then it's not the mouse pad.

Any office or computer store will sell a mouse you can use.
There are many brands to choose from, but I bought a Microsoft wireless mouse that has a small transmitter that plugs in one of my USB ports.

It works great!

There is sometimes a switch to disable the built in mouse/trackpad when using an external mouse, you can also check mouse properties in control panel

if you have an esternal mouse istalled try to go to the device manager and unistall all the mouses on the mouse section.. shut down computer, remove external mouse and turn it back on. it should work now

you have to contact your pc provider and proberly buy a new mouse[external mouse].

The best thing to do is to check to see if your internal mouse driver is installed. To check. Click start----right click on my computer------then select manage-----a window will open---- to your left click on device manager to see what's missing. I hope that helps

XP - Simply on a blank part of the screen right click mouse and select properties, you should be in display properties, selections are there and you should get hte picture(s) you want

you can try using the function key ( fn ) and the touch pad key on my acer it is the F7 key hold the fn key and press and release the touch pad key that will turn the touch pad mouse off and on also goto control panel / mouse and try switch primary and secondary see if that will make the right button work if not its probly hardware related and your best bet is to keep the external mouse going rather than fixing that one

TRY EXTERNAL usb MOUSE AND KEYBOARD-- USB

i had the same problem. apart from keyboard and mousepad, all usb weren't working at all... except the pcmcia slot. so i bought a pcmcia usb card and plugged in the usb mouse and keyboard in those slots. it works! at least on my aspire 5100
