Sure, why not? They are in direct contact with the fire during cooking.

I left silicone guard on grates and put on self cleaning. My oven is now filled with a white powder.

Thank you for your inquiry, Cheryl!

I understand that you left the silicone guard on the grates and turned on self-cleaning, now you have white powder inside of your Frigidaire range. This can be removed by using hot water, baking soda, and a non-abrasive cloth. It may take elbow grease in order to remove the white powder. I would recommend not using the oven until you have removed the white powder. I hope this information is helpful for you. -Matt

I lifted the stove top of my hotpoint electric stove to clean under the burners and now I can not get it back in place

There are two metal brackets, thin ones, like little wires, one on each side, holding the stove top up. They are held in place by clicking toward you slightly when you life the stove top, push them back toward the wall slightly to release them.

Good Luck!

Should oven grates be left in oven during self cleaning mode?

Hello,
It has been awhile but I believe the grates and side racks have to come out to even get it to go into self clean mode. Hope this helps.

I have a gas cook stove. I would like to know how i can clean the burner grates. Please tell me something.

Place them in the oven on self clean or if you do not have the setting, place all the parts into a black trash bag, spray oven cleaner on the surfaces and place the trash bag in the sun for a few hours. Rinse and spot clean the balance. This also works for re-seasoning cast iron pans
(the bag thing). You may need a few applications for the pans....

Badly stained gray burner grates for stove

Common problem, very frustrating...Use the self clean feature of your oven if available or you can place all of the grates and pieces into a black trash bag, spray them with oven cleaner and let the closed bag sit in the sun for a while, rinse and spot clean. You can get the tough stuff by "gently" using a steel wool pad - be careful, you could scratch the surface.

Cleaning the cast iron grates and griddle

Try This....
Place the grates in a sink of hot, soapy water and let soak for 15-20 minutes. For tougher stains, add a cup of sudsy ammonia to the water. Make sure grates are thoroughly dried after each cleaning. After the cleaning process, Lightly coat the bottom of the grates with a cooking spray and then blotting them dry.
Or
If you self clean the oven on occasion, put them in the oven when running the self clean cycle.

i would NOT recommend putting grates in oven while self cleaning, dont even leave the racks in there!!!! ammonia supposedly cleans them pretty good, get yourself a plastic garbage bag and a measuring cup full of ammonia. place the grates in the bag and stand the cup up in the bag with them, close the bag and place on the back stoop over night. the FUMES do all the heavy work you rinse off under the sink.DO NOT pour over the grates but stand up the cup next to them.make sue to seal the bag as well!!!
