Question about Whirlpool LER4634J Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Drier keeps shutting down.

My drier keeps shutting down mid cycle. Also, when it shuts down the drum will barely turn. It is an older drier. My husband took it apart and cleaned out all the lint and stuff from around the motor. Put it back together and it ran for a while, then the same thing keeps happening.

MY FRIGIDAIRE MODEL FAQE770KW0 DRIER IS MAKING A LOUD NOISE AFTER IT GETS HOT

you might need a new roller on the back of the drum, As for being louder when warm it's the part getting hot from Friction that is wearing the roller or roller pin down.

My drier is turning & fan running but has no heat, the stat in the drum is open line (25m ohms) would I be correct in thinking the element is faulty

GOD IS STILL GOOD !!!!

ELECTRIC Dryer no heat or little heat, or shuts down to fast:

Check your venting and lint basket. Check blower for lint build up and blower wheel obstruction., test by trying to turn the wheel manually by hand (should be easy) May have to remove cabinet or front/back plate to get to it)

Next check the heating element itself with a meter for continuity OHMS CLOSED CIRCUIT. If not its defective or has a short if its grounding out? Which in turns causes blown fuses or thermostats or overheating.

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage. 220 because if u only get half or 110 volts you will be able to run the machine which uses only 110 to run motor but not the heater which uses a full 220,

Check the thermal cut off, the cycling and the hi limit thermostats.
For continuity or OHMS. If no ohms or resistance they need replacement.

In some dryer's the control panel relies on a thermistor rather than a CYCLING thermostat to regulate the drum's air temperature by monitoring the component's resistance changes; resistance goes down as temperature increases and up when temperature decreases. Once the drum's air temperature reaches a certain level required to dry clothes, the control panel shuts off the heater. The panel will turn the heater on again and begin another heating cycle when the thermistor indicates that more heat is needed to keep the air temperature constant inside the drum

Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet.
Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.
A failed moisture sensor will affect the dryer run time in the automatic moisture sensing cycle but it will not affect the heating of the dryer or the timed cycle. Which are reflected by the thermostats.

How to get to motor on hoover vhc691b?

Very rare a motor fails on a hoover drier normally its the capacitor that fails. you can hear the motor humming but the drum wont rotate to proof its the capacitor turn the machine on press start listen for the motor humming open the the door of drier turn the drum by hand fast then shut the door as fast has possible then the drum should start going around . then this proves its the capacitor fault you are doing the job of the capacitor giving the motor a start .

The signal dings at end of drying cycle but dryer keeps on running without heat

The drier works fine and heats during the cycle and then when the cycle is over the heat quits but the drier keeps running? Does it shut off when you open the door?

Drier will keep stopping mid cycle with a filter led coming on...even though the filter is cleaned.

Experience shows that a fair percentage of fluff actually enters the body of the drier, and obstructs airflow. This causes the heater element to exceed safe temperatures, and a 'Filter' warning occurs.

Unplug the appliance, remove the rear cover, and remove what fluff you can, using a clean paintbrush to reach behind certain cover plates (etc.).
This should solve the problem.

Drier shuts off

Thermostat controls heat. There is also a

motor centrifulgal switch, in the element

circuit, that the motor closes to insure

the motor is turning. Try another heat

setting. There is more than one

thermostat. You may have blown the

'thermal fuse' too, which requires

replacement. The elecment has a contact in

the 'timer'circuit too.

It is possible that your element has

failed also.

Tripped high limit. Must clean the lint

filter and the exhaust vent tube and all

the way in to the dryer. Hot air exit is

restricted.

Electric drier takes 2 to 3 cycles to dry one normal size load

Have you tried cleaning the actual inside of the drier?
When you use drier sheets the wax on the sheets melts onto your clothes and makes them soft, but the wax often gets stuck in the holes of the drier making it incapable of drying the clothes in one load. Try scrubbing the inside of your drier with some hot water.

Opened dryer door mid-cycle left open 1 hr. Dryer won't restart

there is a door switch on left upper corner of drier opening, make sure the little prong is clicking when you push it in. this turns the drier back on when the door is closed and the start button is pushed.
