Re: Rules for runing partitiom magic
There is a work around, but you will have to become familiar with Linux Ubuntu. Vista is not friendly when it comes to partitions. 4 primary partitions is all one is going to get.
However, if you download the Ubuntu live cd (just google for it), it will come with a progam called Gparted. Gparted basically is the same as Partion Magic, as far as what it does. You'll need to study the Ubuntu help pages to learn how to use it.
Once you learn how to use it, you can use it to create 3 primary Windows partitions, a Linux(Ubuntu) partition and a linux swap partition ( it's same as a Windows page file, except the page file is on the Windows partition, and not on a partition by itself).
Once you've partitioned your drive with Gparted, you can install 3 flavors of Windows on the primary partitions and Ubuntu on the rest, or whatever it was that you wanted to do.
I have been informed by the VISTAHEAD admin. that vista can not be partitioned by more than 4 parts.
I used the shrink function available in the Vista computer manger , rename the DVD drive label, and labeling the new partitions, then format them as NTFS, then reboot twise for taking the configuration setup and every thing is o.K. without the need for the partition magic.
Now i have only 4 patitions. But didn't know why is this limit?
Beside that i read that the partition magic v8.0 cannt partiton the vista O.S main drive.

If possible get partion manager s/w and format it,it's better you have partio magice bootable CD with you and format with it,even after using partition magice cd, if your hdd doesnt format, there is a way to open a hdd and fixing the head of hdd try it out and let me know.
right click my computer in the desktop click mange then click disk management you will see the partion rightclick the partion and click new partion follow the steps when the steps are over you will see the partion
You can achieve this in Windows "Control panel -> administrative tools-> computer management->disk management". Make sure your USB drive is connected and swiched on. You will see the drive on the right of your screen at the bottom of the other drives you have. Select the partion you want to change/delete and from "actions" choose "all tasks->format-> FAT 32". you may have to delete the partition, so that windows will allow the formatting. I ahve jsut done this with my WD 1TB drive.
If you're trying to format this drive, and you have nothing on it you want, then I would suggest that you use a windows 98 boot disk HERE. And first thing you need to do is load dos by putting the floppy disk in your drive A: after you create it from that site of course. Then allow dos to boot up. I'd opt for the allow cd rom option when it asks. After you get a dos prompt A: type in fdisk. Go to the display partions section and see what your drive is partioned as? Once you find that out, I'd delete the partion from the main menu choice delete partion. After that create a new partion from the main menu. Creating a new Dos partion will allow you to choose the size of the partion you want, then after that it will create your new Dos partion. When that's done, exit fdisk, and go to the A: prompt and type in format c: This will format the drive all over again, and give you a clean fresh starting point in which you install your OS.
Your Ques is not so clear. i think you prob is this. your c drive is not havin enough of space. normally you shuold have about 20 gb if you are using big softwares like photoshop.try to get your primary partition more space..Need more help?
Three possible reasons: 1. Your IDE cable is defective or is not seated/plug in correctly. Try to replace or re-seat/re-insert; 2. The on-board disk management of the hard disk is corrupted/defective. There is no remedy except to replace the PCboard or the entire hard disk; 3. Your motherboard BIOS/CMOS needs to be flashed and/or something is wrong with the IDE interface.
Of the 3, # 1 is the most common.
Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
