Question about Kenmore 22422 Top Load Washer
We purchased the part, removed the clips from the pump but it will not come loose from the center shaft.
Had to pry it off. It took about 45 minutes to get it to come off. The reason it was so hard to get it off was that the shaft of the motor was pitted and rusted some. The new pump then wouldn't easily slide onto the shaft, so we had to use a file and sandpaper to make the shaft smooth. We then used WD-40 on the shaft and it went on rather easily, but was still plenty snug. We put the clips back on, the hoses back on and bingo, we fixed it and saved about $150.00. Neither myself or my husband had ever attempted to fix a washer or any large appliance before. Times are hard and we decided to try it on our own and were happy we did. No more leaking at all. It was a "high five" moment!!! Barbara Giles
