The oven temp stays at 113 degrees. I am trying to conserve energy and want to turn it down. Is that possible and if so, how?

  • ssunshine Feb 02, 2009

The temp stays at 113 degrees in the off position. Is that normal? Is it possible to turn that temp down in an effort to conserve LP gas? Sorry for any confusion in my question. If you don't know, I'll call the company.

  • ssunshine Feb 02, 2009

Thank you, you have tried very hard to answer my question. But unfortunately, it has not helped the problem. Guess I will call the local service man and ask him. Thanks again.

  • ssunshine Feb 02, 2009

No, the solution was not helpful to solve the problem, but the person tried really hard to help which I greatly appreciate. Now, I can either call the company who will tell me to call a serviceman. So, I will go directly to the serviceman.

I can fix regular ranges, but I do not have much experience in catering equipment, I guess you cannot have such a range working on temps inferior to 113, if that is the starting point.

I will see if I can find something on this on the internet.

In the meanwhile you can call Imperial at toll free number 800 343 7790 (US) , they should be able to tell you more on this.

On spec sheet for IR6 ovens you get "Thermostat shall be adjustable from 150oF to 500oF. (66oC to 260oC)."

I do not know if this responds to your model specs, but on all models you get a lower temp limit, and on your unit it must be 133 (50 C)

Re: "The temp stays at 113 degrees in the off position"

That is because the oven is not off, it is on standby.

There should be a way to set the oven to go off completely instead of standby, unfortunately Imperial does not make available any manual apart brochures online.

Try first cutting power (trip circuit breaker or unplug cord), and waiting five minutes.
This will reset the unit to factory settings, even if standby mode can be a default setting for a catering unit like this.

I will give a last try and search again.

For sure there is a way to change the mode so that oven goes off completely when you do not need it.

Hi there, I have found a user manual here, it says:

"To turn off the oven completely turn both the termostat and power switch to 'off'' position.

I am afraid that is the only way to turn the oven completely off, otherwise it will keep a standby temperature of 113 degrees, so that you do not have to re-ignite the oven each time.

By the way, at minimum temp the oven should have a very low gas consumption, and not reingniting oven each time will prolong the life of your appliance.

How to adjust the temperature of a G E 2 door refrigerator

You need to know the make and model number, found inside the door or inside somewhere. Then do a Google search on the make and model with the word manual. You should be able to download the manual, or read it online, it's usually in .pdf format, to see how to adjust the temperature.

I have a Skytech 3301 for a propane stove with some thermostat problems.

Great question! It sounds to me like the Skytech's swing temp setting may be out of whack.
Here is a quick link to the product page with a link to the owner's manual at the bottom if you need: Skytech 3301 Fireplace Remote.
Below is an excerpt on how to check and modify the swing temp settings for the Skytech 3301. (I apologize if the copy/paste formats poorly).
The Thermo Mode on the transmitter operates the appliance whenever the ROOM TEMPERATURE varies a
certain number of degrees from the SET TEMPERATURE. This variation is called the "SWING" or
TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL. The normal operating cycle of an appliance may be 2-4 times per hour depending on how well the room or
home is insulated from the cold or drafts. A smaller "swing number" increases the number of cycles so the room temperature is more
constant. A larger "swing number" decreases the number of cycles, which saves energy, in most cases. The factory setting for the "swing
number" is 2. This represents a temperature variation of +/- 2
F (1
C) between SET temperature and ROOM temperature, which determines
when the fireplace will be activated. The "SWING" number values are:
1=+ 1
F (.5
C), 2= + 2
F (1
C) and 3 = + 3
F (1.6
1. To change the temperature "SWING" setting (1-3), press the TIMER/TIME and DOWN buttons
simultaneously to display the current "SWING" setting in the SET TEMP frame. The letter "S" will
display in the ROOM TEMP frame on the LCD screen.
2. Press the UP or DOWN button to change the temperature differential or "SWING" (1-3). See above
for 1-3 "SWING" temperature valves.
3. To store the "swing number press the SET button or allow 15 seconds to lapse, and the new "swing
number' will be automatically programmed.

The operation of the factory set "THERMO SWING" can be checked by adjusting the SET TEMP 2
F above or below the room temperature.
This will cause the system to turn ON or OFF. Normally the system will only respond to temperature changes every two minutes. Manually
changing the SET temperature will activate the system in less than 10 seconds. IF the "SWING" is changed, then a new room temperature
differential will respond. Factory setting of "SWING" temperature is 2

There should be a plus/minus sign OR a up/down arrow to adjust the temp.on the control/touch panel. The default setting is usually 350 and can adjusted up or down accordingly, the display starts at 120 and is supposed to rise as temp. increases.
The bigger issue though is to have it serviced and see why it doesnt rise above 200

My oven is at least 15 degrees cooler than it should be. Since I have a digital stove, does that mean it cannot be repaired?

Try this

Turn oven temperature knob to OFF.

2. Press and hold both arrow pads for approximately 5 seconds.

3. A double digit will display ranging from -35 °F to 35 °F.

4. Immediately, press either:

• to increase oven temperature by 5 °F

• to decrease oven temperature by 5 °F

• When temperature is adjusted to a cooler setting, a minus sign (-) will

display with the offset temperature.

5. When desired temperature change is displayed, release control and

change will be automatically saved after a few seconds. Control will

return to time of day display.
• Offset temperature change will be retained through a power failure.
The complete manual can be downloaded at just enter your model # and the manual will be on the left hand side.

Whirlpool Stove oven temperature not accurate

This unit has a calibration function which can compensate for temperature errors of +/-30 deg F. Hold the BAKE button for 4 seconds to enter this mode. Use the Temp UP/DN buttons to adjust the temperature offset. Push START to enter the new offset.

Also, the typical manual oven thermometers are notoriously inaccurate.

If this doesn't solve your problem, next items may be the temperature sensor or control board. If it is the control board we may be able to repair it for you at

Yes you can make adjustments but you need a thermometer to set it accurately, you can buy them at Wal mart for 4 bucks. You will need to see if the thermal bulb is located in the flame, if not you will have to move it when it's cool. Some units have a screw to adjust the temperature some use a sliding tube to adjust the heat you will need to look at the stove to see. If you have the owners manual it will help, sometimes the thermal bulb goes bad and the temp control has to be replaced.

Replace the temperature sensor inside the oven cavity. It looks like a small metal rod. Be aware you will never get an accurate temperature reading with those cheap 5 dollar things. After the oven is preheated, you must wait 10 minutes and take a reading. Some models have a temperature adjustment, it's listed in the owners manual.

Stove to hot burns everything

This is a simple fix as long as the oven is heating properly and the only problem is that the temp seems higher than what the temperature control knob indicates...

Purchase an inexpensive oven thermometer from the hardware store and place it in the center of the oven. Set the temperature control knob to 350 degrees F.

Check the temperature indicated on the thermometer in the oven after 20 minutes. If it's not within 5 degrees of 350, you'll need to adjust the oven's temperature control.

Turn the oven off.

Pull off the temperature control knob. You can usually pull it off by hand, pry it off with a thin screwdriver, or slide a piece of cord up behind it and pull.

Note which kind of temperature control knob you have. There are two types: The first has a screw in the shaft of the knob; the second has an adjustment dial on the back of the knob.

Adjust the temperature with the first type by turning the screw in the shaft with a screwdriver. Turn it clockwise to lower the temperature; turn it counterclockwise to raise the temperature. Turn the screw just a little bit in the appropriate direction.

Adjust the temperature with the second type of knob by turning the dial on the back of the knob. (This dial is held in place with a screw or a clip that will need to be removed.) Raise the temperature setting by turning the dial counterclockwise; lower it by turning the dial clockwise. The notches are typically in 5 or 10-degree increments.

Test the oven temperature again.

Repeat until you're in the right temperature range.

Good Luck!

Tappan Oven overheats!!

If you have electronic controls, you'll need either the temperature probe (about $60.00) or the clock (about $150.00). You can test the temperature probe from behind the machine. It should read about 1080 ohms at room temperature. if the probe is good, replace the clock.

If you have mechanical oven controls, you need a new thermostat. Is the too high temp consistent? (i.e. runs at 375F +/- 25F?) If so, you can usually adjust the thermostat **** to read closer to the actual temperature.
