Frozen machine my 6 year old singer quantum xl 3400 sewing machine seems to be frozen. I had just completed hemming a pair of pants, changed thread to do another pair and my machine will not work. The motor runs, but will not sew. I can change stitches, etc. but can not sew. I am able to turn the wheel by hand with much effort.

Inside the foot the wires are connected to two different screws. They are obviously coming loose by being pulled.
1. Open the foot on the bottom.
2. Look where the screws are. You need to have the wires connected there.
3. Before connecting to screws: tie a knot in the wire from the inside of the foot pedal where the wire protrudes through the hole.
4. Now, tightly connect the wire to each screw. Apply bottom of bracket. Now, sew!!!!!!!!!!

There are several FB and Yahoo groups dedicated to the Quantum XL-1000, XL-5000 and XL-6000 who can help you. It may be that your problem with the autothreading is the autothreader is out of adjustment, but I'm at a loss as to the bobbin winder problem.

Drop the actual model number (like XL-150, XL-500 etc.) into the search box.

The needle thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

do you have a manual for the machine?
if you don't, singer has a free one on their website
Go to the singer website
Go to the home page
Go to customer service--click on it--it will show a small menu--click on instruction manual
In the box put the model number (example 3400 ) & click search

Try to turn the hand wheel (on the right side of the machine) backwards ( if you are facing the right side of your machine, turn it clockwise) and try to remove the thread. Once its freed up, change the needle.

ok it sounds like the theader is bent check to see if the that it is going through the eye of the needle if it is make sure the foot is up so the tenison dics holding the thead this may help .

Try changing your needle

check to make sure no thead is wraped around the hook
