Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I recently bought an 80 gig PS3. All the research I did prior to getting it said it would def play about 50% of my sons PS2 games. We have downloaded the latest firmware/software etc. but none of his PS2 games will play! Any ideas out there please!?? Thanks!
Sony had to remove the lense that read the compatibility with ps2 games so the newer versions do not read any

Some 80 gb ps3's are backwards compatible, some are not.
unfortunately it looks like you have one that isn't.
my suggestion is to look on the back of the unit, underneath the barcode. the serial number will be there, followed by the model number. if you're model is not CECHE01 it is not backwards compatible.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
