Thanks for that but PC volume control is on and no mute buttons are checked. Is there a volume control on the monitor?

The full specs on the product note that there is no audio output. I just purchased the same model and am returning it because while it has power, VGA and DVI connections it does not have audio connections, which means no audio output on this unit.

I don't think the Acer x193W has built-in speakers, and therefore won't have a volume control. You do have separate speakers plugged in, right?

Go to the task bar and right click on the speaker icon, this will open up your audio settings, check too see if the master volume is all of the way up and also make sure the box next to mute is not checked. If it is uncheck it.

Are you sure that your computer has an audio driver installed? The simplest way to check is to turn your computer off and restart, do you here the typical windows start chimes? If not go to the start menu, click on "My Computer" when the next screen opens, highlite "Local Drive (C:)" , in the column to the left click on "System Information", the next screen that opens will be "System Properties", click on "hardware" this open up another screen. From this screen click on "Device Manager" once this opens scroll down until you find "Sound, Video and game controller" *note: some just say sound. Click on the + to open up thie list of sound drivers. Find the "audio Driver" and right click on it, select "Update Driver" to see if it updates, also if it is not installed it will not be listed. You can also click on properties from the same screen and troubleshoot the driver. Hopefully this works.

    Good Luck!

No sound from this monitor. I have everything plugged in , volume icon is turned all the way, mute is off, adjusted speaker levels, etc on my desktop.

Firstly,

You need to check if the green cable from the computer tower is blugged into the back of the monitor (The cable looks the same at both the ends) this is for the output to come through the monitor.

If that is plugged in and if not working, Try a headphone on the tower and check if the sound is coming from the headphone, If yes, You will have to adjust the volume on the monitor or the speaker of the monitor might have gone bad. If there is no sound coming in, Then the problem is with the tower and not the monitor.

My Acer X193W monitor has discoloration, a neon green on the screen wherever the darker colors would have been displayed. Is it dying or just needs adjustment? (Changing the settings to different...

Its dying...as a last resort make sure no magnetic devices such as speakers are near it and look for a reset function...if you can get into settings try turning it off and then turn it on and try again.

Monitor screen won't stay up. Monitor is connected to Gateway PC which is running Windows 2000.

You have to prove if it's the monitor or the PC, you must swap out, for Known Good, units. Check your monitor on another PC, try another Monitor on your PC. This will soon zero you in on the faulty item, be it, the monitor, or the Video card/PC

Acer x193w LCD Monitor repeatedly auto configures.

Here is a link to get the manual:

Starting on page 15 are the directions for the monitor controls. Page 17 indicates a "RESET" feture to Clear the Old-Statuses of "Auto-Configuration". There are quite a number of setting for this monitor.

Acer monitor x193w, no sound.

Please try to check the sound device status if its working properly thru right click My Computer icon > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager > (double click) Sound, Video & Game Controller OR System Device > System Speaker. also, take note of the Troubleshoot tab. If still it doesn't work, I think you have to reinstall the sound driver (from its motherboard software CD if it's built-in type). best regards

Acer's x193w killing my eyes..please help

First off, LCD monitors have what is called a 'native resolution' and that is why it is recommended to be at 1440 x 900. That is the resolution they work best at. My first suggestion is to try to move the monitor closer to you. If that is not possible, try right-clicking on your desktop, click on the Properties tab (That is where you change the resolution. I am doing this for a Windows XP machine - if you are running Vista please let me know and I will try to walk you through it there). Click on the "Advanced" button and in the "General" tab, there should be a "DPI Setting" drop down box. There is usually 96 DPI and 120 DPI. Try 120 DPI and see if that helps.

Second, try using your monitor's menu settings to help the color settings. On your monitor there is a "Menu" button of some sort. Press that and select "Acer eColor Management" and try "Text Mode" to see if that is easier on your eyes. You can also manually adjust the screen and lower the strength of the red color by picking "User" instead of "Acer eColor Management" and selecting the icon that looks like a pyramid of 3 dots. Try adjusting the Red slider and see if that helps.

Drivers for the Acer LCD monitor X193W under Windows XP Pro.

The acer LCD monitor is plug and play. You don't need a driver. But unless you have a graphics card that supports at least 1440x900 you have problems. Also if your card has a div connection, use that instead of the analog connector, The monitor comes with that connector. Use the old one to connect a second CRT monitor if you want. Don't connect both to the lcd monitor and to the computer unless you are using a second monitor. Like everything these days, every purchase seems to need an upgrade of sorts, On board graphics **** anyway. Buy at least a 128 MB graphic card with a digital connector and more RAM never goes astray.....
