I have had a similar problem. My solution was to check the zoom button. It seems that when it is "out of range" you can do nothing with the camera. Try to adjust the zoom a Little bit and you will probably be "in range" and the camera with work.
Thats a only reason of turn off. Try one more things if you success then fine otherwise plz visit service center. I think you zooming botton internally short with power connection. Before that scan your memory card may be reson of virus. or remove your memory card format your internal camara mamory and try.
Thanks, i am waiting for your feed back & if you satisfied then thumps me please.
The best thing to transfer pics from camera to computer is not to transfer directly. Take out the memory card and load the pic through card reader. This is even faster and safer for your camera getting the virus. perhaps your camera is now virus infection but I just hope it's not. try it, that's what am doing.
the reason why the lens zooms out is because the zoom switch is faulty and might need replacing. The way to tell this is when you switch it on in camera mode you will see the zoom bar displays on the lcd and stays there.
Hey, i have had the same problem for over a year. My camera also wasn't briefly showing me the pictures i took right after taking the picture like it used to. Last night i found the "Quick View" function was turned off in the menu (up arrow) of the camera, so i turned it back on. Today i tried the zoom function (i haven't tried it in a year) and IT WORKED!! So i think they are linked somehow.
So try going to your menu (up arrow) then scroll down until it goes to the next page of the menu. Select "Quick View" and turn it on. Then your zoom might work. It worked for me, but i don't know if mine is an isolated incedent.
as you said, you got your camera repaired in olympus. If your camera is in guarantee period, istrongly suggest to go to olympus again.I also think as per our experience that virus can't affect
the menu pad or arrow keys. I think the delicate circuit attached with mode sw ond arrow keys will be damaged.
so go to olympus now.
