Do you see the HP Logo when you first turn on the laptop? When does the blank blue screen appear?

Are you within the 1 year manufacturer warranty? If you are within the 1st year, you may need to call HP and send it into them for repair since you didn't spill anything on it.

But first check to see if this is a software problem. Try tapping F11 or F10 right after you turn on the computer and does this take you to a System Recovery Program? If it does, exit out of the Recovery Program, turn off the laptop, turn it on again and try tapping F8 right after you turn the laptop back on. Do you get a menu screen on a black background? If so, try selecting Safe Mode with the keyboard arrow keys and hit enter. Does the computer boot into safe mode?

The laptop probably has a sticker on the inside that changes color when wet(eventually this had to be defective)...this is why they probably sent it back without even turning it on. since you never spilled anything on it you will probably have an hard time to have it replaced, but keep fighting for your right to have it replaced.

Hp laptop pavilion acts like it's booting up but screen is blank?

May I ask what model it is?

The dv9000 model if you havent been told had some that had bad motherboards and that sounds like what mine problem was.

If its a dv9000 then you may want to talk to a HP agent about that.

Pavilion dv6000t screen won't come on.

I had this exact problem with a customers computer andi found out that HP put faulty motherboards in the DV6000, DV9000, Compaq V6000 Series Computers. Thankfully HP fixing all computers for free and extending the warranty even if the warranty has expired they will ship you a box and you ship it off and they fix it at no cost. the turn around period is about 7 days.

Here is a link to an article that talks about it
