Go into My computer and make sure its recognizing your dvd drive. If its not then you'll need to turn off your laptop and reseat the drive could be that its not making a good connection. If it is being shown in my computer and it can't read any dvd's then the drive is bad and would need to be replaced.

I think my DVD row driver has been crupted due to which it is not visible in mycmputer kindly send me the driver so that i can resolve this issue

Hi bhardwaj_sun,

If you are not seeing the drive for your CD/DVD in My Computer it doesn't mean that it is corrupted. There are just some settings inside the Registry that needs to be changed. Deleting the upper and lower filters is an effective and tested way to resolve this concern. Please follow the step by step procedure below:

Reminder: Please be careful to follow the procedure for this might cause for your system to be messed up if not properly followed.
  • Click on Start, then click Run. Type in regedit and then hit on enter.
  • Expand the following HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > Current Control Set > Control > Class >then select, {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  • On the right pane, look for the following: Upper Filters and/or Lower Filters.
  • If there's any of the two, right click on them and then choose delete.
  • After deleting, you may close the Registry Editor window.
  • Restart your computer.
When you restarted your PC you can now check on My Computer and you'll notice that the drive for your CD/DVD is back. Now, you can start using your DVD Drive once again. This should resolve your concern.

Hope this help you.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Tsstcorp cddvdw ts-h653f ata device doesn't read the cd/dvds. It says no cd is detected insert and try again although the cd/dvd is already in

No solution yet? I think I have the same problem. Dell Inpiron 530 with same drive. I think my problem is hardware failure as Microsoft disk application can't fix, Dell diagnostics suggests hardware problem. Still I tried deleting drivers so windows would reinstall. Even tried going into regedit to no effect. Just can't read what is in drive. CD/DVD does not make the usual disc spinning sound.

I think I'm screwed. Warrenty ran out November 2010. Was having problems before that, but I failed to act on it. From searching internet, this drive may be a dud. Mine failed in less than a year.

Computer does not recognize DVD drive

i had this problem on my computers search the internet and there is a step by step which will solve it. worked on my pc and laptop
Many third-party programs that control CD or DVD burning (as well as some player applications) install CD- or DVD-ROM filter device drivers into Windows. These filter drivers are meant to allow for low-level hooks into the hardware, to allow for functions such as packet writing (where a CD-R/W or DVD-/+RW can be written incrementally, like a hard disk).

These filter drivers sometimes have problems that can cause the CD or DVD drive to stop working correctly. The device entry for the CD or DVD drive in the Device Manager may show up with an error descriptor that reads "The device could not start." Additionally, there may be an error message that reads "One of the filter drivers for this device is invalid." The devices themselves do not show up in Explorer. Error codes for the device include code 31, code 32, code 19 or code 39, and sometimes the even more ominous warning "Your registry might be corrupted" appears.

Fixing the problem simply involves deleting the filter entries for the third-party device drivers. These entries can sometimes become damaged (which is what produces the "corrupt registry" warning).

To delete the offending keys, open the Registry and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlCl ***\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. . Delete the keys named UpperFilters and LowerFilters and reboot.

Several of the products made by Roxio are infamous for causing this problem, although in fairness to the company the most recent versions of their Roxio CD/DVD writing software (6.2 and higher) do not have these problems. Users of 5.0 or 6.0 editions of the Easy CD & DVD Creator product, which has been bundled with many new PCs in the past, should upgrade to 6.2 or better. Other programs can also cause this problem, with the same solution.

Note that after you do this, you may lose functionality in the program that uses the filter drivers, which may need to be reinstalled.

Hi

I would simply recommend replacing the drive as it sounds like the optical lens is shot in it.

Toshiba satellite notebook dvd/cd player

Try to get an Windows XP or Vista CD.

Boot the computer with the cd on drive.

Be sure to select to boot from CD in setup(F2 key I think) or boot menu (F9 key I think)

If the computer boot from CD, probably you have a software problem, else your drive is damaged.

Good luck.
