Hello, I have an LG RE-32FZ10PX which powers on but there is no picture or sound, just a black screen. After about 5-10 seconds the TV switches to standby. Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem...

Hey up, Im affaid to say that i will be no help to you on this occasion but i have EXACLY the same problem. I have had a free quote from a (so-called) tv expert and he reckons that it sounds like either a loose connecton or could be dry or dirty connections. If it is simply that it should cost around £50 to £60 but until he takes it and opens it up he cant really say wheather some other componants have gone in it. If they have it will cost for the new part and the fitting (price unknown).
The fella said he was going on holiday for 3 week and will get in touch when he gets back, will wait a couple more days then give him a ring. If i find anything out i'll let you know. (could you do same for me please? my email is rob_n_laura1@hotmail.co.uk cheers.

Oh, question for you! After i have tried turning it on a few times i can smell like a faint electrical burning smell from the back grill (near where the power cable goes into it). Does your's have the same problem?

Regards Rob...

My sony tv problem is that the picture is stretch horizontally..

If you have a DVR too, there is a pound (#) button on the beside the zero on the DVR remote that stretches my screen off and on. Try that.

Absolutely right about the transistor and also check any adjacent resistors to the transformer and to the line output transistor. Good luck.

Screen stretched on JVC AV-28WT5EKS TV

There are some parts that have failed in the horizontal scan amplifier. You will have to have the set serviced by a TV service tech to determine the exact failed parts and have them replaced.

Distorted Screen

It sounds like the the power supply or the horizontal circuit is faulty, it is very likely you must take your TV to a professional repairer.

Screen Widens Out Constantly

you might be getting more supply from regulated power supply if you get wide pictureor width have to be adjusted by width control. but if it stretchs out & lose some of the picture on the right and left edges it might be due to horizontal output section. 1 loose contact in connector. 2 some capacitor might be defective in h/section caution please do not open the set unless you know about high voltage in tv set.
