I was looking onto the google map and all over sudden it is hanged! I tried to restart by pressing the power button. It did turn on; I can see the start menu but nothing on the screen. Screen is totally black. Also it doesn’t respond to anything. I pressed all buttons including home and phone button but doesn’t work. Then I opened the battery and pressed the red “restart” button. Again it turned on but nothing on the home screen. Its completely frozen. Nothing comes up on the screen. Doesnt connect through Active Sync but able to see the memory card content on removal disc. I am thinking to reinstall the software (re-imaging) on the phone. Please help.

You can also get tips & tricks from www.htcwiki.com It has the latest and great updates, software, even known issues if you ever come across this. HTC does recommend that you do a master/hard reset once a quarter to keep it moving smoothly. Also, ensure you don't have a lot of open running programs. Perhaps once a day, clean the cashe and history. Do a soft reset (aka battery pull) once or twice a week. All depends on how hard you play with this lovely PDA device!
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Dear mate try to reset your phone hard i.e"Hard Reset", Press and hold the TALK and END buttons, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device.
Release the stylus, but continue pressing the TALK and END buttons until you see the following message on the screen:This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press Action to restore manufacturer default,
Release the TALK and END buttons, and then press ENTER on your device.
have you tried resetting? using the red button behind your battery
cover, if it still doesn't work you can do a full reset which will
return everything to factory settings... but it won't touch anything on
your memory card.
i can't remember how to do it off the top of my head but you can google 'hard reset HTC Touch HD' and it should pop up.
If you done, all what is possible. Now try do next:
Push camera button and wait until camera frame will loaded. Dont release camera button. Now push hard reset key. And during restart keep camera button. Whan system will loaded, you can try use camera.
Check the battery connection, if the battery is loose/moves around when you touch it with your finger, try putting a piece of paper on top, or the side, or which ever way it moves. So the battery will still touch the battery contacts. If this isn't the case, try doing a hard reset. Go to start>settings>system>clear storage. (It's like this in my htc diamond, not sure about the touch HD, but should be same) which will erase all data/contacts. Make sure you sync your contacts to your pc to save them!
Resetting the device merely resets the power connection, on some devices there is a reset to manufacturer defaults on settings, but not your stored data. Working with GPS's 40 hours a week I constantly have to use the reset button when they lock up. Just press it in for a few seconds then if it doesn't power back up just hit the power button and everything should be fine.
