Question about Polaroid FCM-0700A 7 in. Portable Television

1 Answer

Unit is completely dead

On this unit you have to use the DVD option to play CD's which turns on the screen to a blue screen. We were listening to a CD and when the player finished it was left on for at least 24 hours without playing anything, just in the on position. The next day I noticed the clock was out and thought the breaker may have tripped. It didn't and the outlet is working fine. When I plug the power cable in to the wall a red light is lit on the AC addpter, then when I plug it into the TV set the red light turns faint and blinks. The TV acts like it is not getting any power. Do I have a bad adapter or is the TV shot?

    Called Polaroid, they told me the motherboard is dead. I didn't even have to explain the situation, they know these are junk. They offered to send me a refurbished one if I pay the same price I paid for new one.

The blue screen appears when the signal is missing - check your connections to the antenna or the cable.

26" 720p HDTV/DVD COMBO will not eject disk

First you do is to unplug the cord of your DVD unit for 5 hours in order to drain the stored current,the purpose is to reset the unit. After the 5 hours plug the DVD see to it if it open If not,just try to press down on the stop button and pressing eject button at same time and it will unlock the tray .Then the other option is to open the cover of the DVD unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electricshock . When open already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the DVD player and you will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc platter.When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly.If you do already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn’t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There’s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also.

Hope it may help you;

Unit is dead....

The power supply is the first place to start.

Is there a transformer? Check to see that there is AC on the primary & secondary of the transformer.

If no AC on the secondary, then the transformer is bad. If AC ok on the secondary, then look for a bad rectifier diode/module and/or regulator module. There might also be fuses on the DC side of the power supply.

If the unit is completely dead, it's most likely a power supply issue.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!
