Question about GE Spectra JBP78 Electric Kitchen Range
While we were cleaning our oven the inner glass broke and cracked from top to bottom. So I have two questions:
1. Can I still use the oven?
2. Can I replace the glass myself? It looks fairly simple, 4 screws, probably some type of heat glue and the glass.
3. What else should I be concerned about?
4. I'd really like to do this myself.
Ok Jim - to answer your first question, you can still use the oven but it will be less efficient and will probably not operate at the temperature you set it at.
Yes you can replace the glass yourself. ?You will need the right glass for your model of stove and the installation kit to go with it.
You can purchase these at a website such as www.repairclinic.com

Tips for a great answer:
Hello ewaters56 - Honestly, I suggest contacting a professional to have the inner glass panel replaced and I do not recommend for the oven to be used.

Welcome to FixYa
issue can be caused by the oven temp sensor that is bad and needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before
replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around
1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement. You can view this video for glass
back to me if you have any other questions.
