Question about HP Pavilion F1703 17" LCD Monitor
This monitor is about 6 years old and working fine until we were cleaning the desk. Both the power cable and cable to computer are attached but the power button is not lighting up and no picture appears.
Is there a something simple I can do to diagnose this problem?
Is there a fuse?
Do they generally last more than 6 years with daily use?
Is the cable a straight cable? or does it have a power brick in the middle of it? the most obvious problem would be power. check the outlet with a lamp or radio to be sure it has power. then if you have a multimeter i would test the end of the cable with it plugged in to be sure its sending power to the monitor. if both of those tests pass then id say its a monitor issue. typically the newer lcd monitors last longer but any compuet monitor used daily will last 5-10 years typically (that my findings and nothing more). hope i helped.

It sounds like it just died, it was a coincidince, that you were cleaning. There is no fuse, and 6 years is pretty normal if not great for an lcd. Even if you could send it back, it wouldn't be worth it, I sent back a 19 that only lasted aboy half as long, and just to pack and ship it was $70.00. You can get a 19 inch replacement from www.tiger.com for under $150.00. More than likelly if you checked the connector going into the monitor and both that and the end going into the computer, you blew the main board. not worth fixing. By the way, if you sprayed the monitor with a cleaning solvent while connected, that may have caused the problem.
