This website should have any thinkpad parts you could possibly need or want.

After I pwr up my Thinkpad T42 laptop, windows start up and ctrl/alt/del screen comes up. When pressed there is no response. It also appears the keypad is not working when keys are pressed.

Maybe your Keyboard is defective.

To check, plug an external keyboard on your laptop.

If it's working then you should see a laptop technician for the part replacement.

Hi.. In my Thinkpad T42, the ESC key button fell down. Is it possible to fix back or else i need to replace a new keyboard.

usually you can pop the key out and reconnect the arms back together or there may be a metal spring looking thing. (please rate)

I just got a used thinkpad T42 and the touch pad doesn't work. How do i fix this

Take off the keyboard and top bezel, be careful when removing the trackpad cable, then find a replacement trackpad. The bottom of the T42 has a a keyboard icon next to the screws that hold the keyboard in place.

look for the number lock key.... it's been toggled on ... most likely is just labeled num lock or similar.

Keyboard repair

You should call Acer tech support and enquire about a keyboard. I am sure that they will tell you to take the computer to their rep for your area. Normaly they change the keyboard when there is a fault. If the circuit board under the keys is defective or if one of the IC's on the board failed, this would not be servicable at all. The keyboards on these computers were not really designed to be able to be serviced.
