Question about Samsung HP-R5052 50 in. Plasma HDTV

1 Answer

HP-S5053 $ 2500, and just out of warranty I have absolutely no video. Sound, but no video. Besides being tremendously disappointed, I am trying to see if I can odiagnose this thing and order a part. Can anyone offer any ideas? I am in a rural area of Texas, and the factory has told me to "go fish"... Their closest authorized repari center is about 1.5 hours away... and that's IF I could even stuff it in my suburban. What a drag.... not at all what I expected when I invested in this thing. Anyway, I hope someone might offer a ray of hope. I am no tech, but I can handle some basic soldering if that's what it takes. Otherwise, I am up a creek I guess. Thanks for any help. - Doug

I have audio, but no video. The TV has had sporadically done this before, and I was able to power off and then turn back on, and it would work OK. Not this time!!!!

Quite possible, plasma are notorious about power they over heat tremendously, So quite possible is the power board, its really hard to pin down in a plasma, you are stuck in buying extra parts just to see if it works. i had 2 and the power supply didnt help, but good luck in your adventure it is a learning experience

No audio. good video

Not familiar with this make of TV, but some TV's require you make a change to the audio menu from int. to ext. speakers. Do the internal speakers work and if they do, besides the menu change are you useing an external amp with your surround system?

I can very well understand how disappointing this is. But no company can ever do a free replacement for such causes. You need to have pest control in the house as the cockroaches can damage any electronic equipment from microwave oven to audio/video equipment in the house. If you do not do that, it will be Panasonic today and some other brand tomorrow.

Audio is not working

First check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF.
Then try hooking up the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks to see if you get audio there, if you do, then the problem is in the power amps section, if no, then the problem is in the sound processor circuits. Please post back what you find.

Have sound but no picture

I don't have the solution but I might be of some help. Right now myself and 3 others are trying to get a class action against HP for this problem with the Plasma Tv they have produced and I would like you to be part of this. Please email me at jamie_2326@yahoo.com and I will have the other people that are involved get in touch with you also. Please be a part of this so we can get some sort of solution besides having to pay another $600+ on top of what we've already wasted. Thank you.

Have a Zenith 50" plasma model #Z50P3...no picture but have sound. of course my 1 yr warranty ran out last week.

Place a warranty service request anyway. Many times with something that fails that close to the warranty period, the company will still cover it. If you get no where with the initial rep, speak to a supervisor +/or manager. This is too close to the warranty end and you should be covered. Be nice but firm in your disappointment with the product and you may get warranty service.

Keep us posted.

Black Screen, can hear sound though

I learned recently that, since I purchased mine with a VISA card, VISA automatically doubled my warranty to extend it to a second year. Hope this helps someone else.
