Sears craftsman garage door opener 139655000 moves about 12" and returns seems to be only with load of door on it. If I disconnect the door the the drive will travel down engage door and reopen. I don't have a manual for it.

Hi, I gotta tell ya this is an old opener and there is not much info on it. I will give you the basics. If your door is equipped with safety sensors (the little boxes on the bottom of the rails that keep the door from closing on something) you need to make sure there are no obstructions,( its a light beam) the wires are intact and that they are aligned and clean. There is usually a light on one of them to indicate it is working. If this is the problem you can let me know if you need more help. If you aren't sure, the door movement can be checked by bridging out the sensors. The other thing is this door has the copper arm type limiters and if the cover was removed it is easy to pop off one of the arms, you can check this but don't if you didn't have the cover off. Good Luck!

Motor hums but door doesn't move. If I disconnect door and give chain a horizontal poke, it will move. When I reconnect door it returns to humming, without movement.

Remove the cover from the motor unit and you will find the drive gear has stripped. White sawdust all over. The part number for the gear kit is 41A2817 and it comes with instructions. It is available at any good door opener service company.

Can i use a wireless keyless entry 953876 with a digital control opener model 139655000?

Your opener was manufactured before wireless keypads were even dreamed of. The answer is no unless you have updated the transmitters and the receiver.

Garage opener only travels about 12"

Sounds like something is binding causing the safety feature to activate the same as if it hit something. Bring the motor down to the point where this happens and pull the plug. At this point turn the motor manually and attempt to find the obstruction. You can also confirm this by changing the sensitivity so as to almost cancel it. Don't leave it that way, the safety feature is to protect anything it might hit as well as the opener itself. Do this only for diagnostics only and be ready to kill the power.

My garage door opener moves about 8" then reverses direction before touching the limits

Remove the cover and take a look at the drive gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. It is most likely stripped. You can purchase a new one at Sears or any good door opener company. It comes with instructions.

Transformer is smoked the # is204877 for trans the door opener is # 139655000

Parts haven't been available for this model for a long time. Your best bet is to replace with a new opener. They are much safer now.

Sears/Craftsman Garage Door won't budge

with the door down, disconnect with the emergency release, see if the motor operates
with no load...if the the track moves you probably have something obstructing the door
ie; a broken spring, door locks, etc ... the chain should be adjusted for just a little
**** mid way down the rail (1/4") if it still doesn't move ... call sears.

Garage door

Disconnect the door from the opener and manually lift to see if it is binding.
