I updated my mac and I lost the CD driver for my acomdata external hard drive. Is there anyway to download that driver from a website or something?

when you first plug in the external hard drive
windows should pick up on it, it must be on.
then go to start,settings,control panel,classic view on left, system on bottom,hardware tab,device manager,look for any yellow !! marks,you may need the driver for this, in order for it to pick up on the ext. hard drive

This is the solution that worked for me.
Luckily I have another external drive of the exact same model that is working fine.
I used the power supply from the good working model and plugged it into the bad drive. The bad drive booted right up. Evidently the power supply was the issue, not the drive itself.
Even though the bad power supply had enough juice to light up the drive, it was not able to make the drive spin correctly.

Hi,
This generally means you have a hardware failure in the drive or enclosure. The simplest way to test which is to have a hardware tech move the drive into a new enclosure and see if it works.
This will void your warranty if you do it, so, if the drive is under warranty and there are no files you consider valuable on the drive, call the manufacturer for warranty support.
If you value the data more than the drive is worth then take it to your local hardware vendor and ask them to test the hard drive in a new enclosure. Good odds it will work this way but if not you may need the help of a data recovery specialist.
In North America I use Armor-IT, if you are in a different region and the new enclosure fails to garner results, comment back with your region(Country, State, City) and I will supply you with the closest reputable facility.

Now, if you can't find an external hard drive adapter for your drive, can I ask you is it for a laptop or desktop.
If it is for a desktop, you can actually open the drive casing and take out the internal hard drive and plug it into your computer.
