Grease caked on the oven from a spill

I cooked a turkey yesterday and there was a whole in the pan which caused a large amount of grease to spill ~ smoke was coming out of the oven. I immediately shut off the oven (luckily the turkey was cooked), and while I cleaned some of the grease off, there is still a large amount of grease which has hardened in the oven.

I'm afraid to turn on the self-cleaner because of the intensity of the oven when it's turned on to the self-cleaner. Can you please tell me what household product I can buy to first clean the grease off and then put on the self-cleaner?

I have a gas General Electric oven?

Thank you

First--Look for a couple release levers around the bottom of the oven. You should remove the bottom and scrape the spilled grease off. If you can't remove it, clean off what you can before using a standard ovencleaner. It will still need to be washed well before firing it up.

Can i cook two boxes of cake mix together in one ten inch square tin, to make a large cake?

According to Duncan Hines - no. One box of mix will cook properly in a 10x2 pan assuming it is the same height as your regular cake pans. Here is some conversion info that I copied from one of their mix boxes: 1 box of mix yields 5 1/2 cups of batter. 5 1/2 cups can be cooked in a 10x2 pan and should take about 40 - 50 minutes. You can make 2 cakes and stack them for a big cake but all that batter in one pan probably won't cook right. Two boxes of mix need a 15 x 2 round pan or an 11 x 15 x 2 rectangle pan. I hope that helps!

I work at Walmart, I had to use some degreaser to

A very small amount of degreaser spilled in a large commercial fryer is harmless, but if in doubt, discard the grease, thoroughly rinse the vat with clean water, and allow to drain completely before refilling with grease. Recycle used grease. do not pour down a drain or storm sewer.

Condensation between door glasses

This moisture can accumulate from certain types of cooking (lots of boiling) in the microwave or in extreme cases, from a blocked grease filter or exhaust vent duct.

Spills or large amounts of accumulated moisture should be wiped off. Minor amounts can dry out by themselves easier if you leave the door open after cooking.

Also, when boiling on the stovetop, you should always use the hood vent exhuast fan to keep steam and grease out of the controls and the door area of the microwave. I always recommend using the vent fan with any cooking on the stovetop.

As long as it is not rusting the metal mesh screen or other parts of the door, it can be allowed to dry out over a period of days with the door open.

If it is a convection microwave, using the convection heat will help it dry.

How do I stop my cake from sticking to the pan?

You must make sure that you grease your pan really generously before you put the batter in. You can use either a vegetable shortening or a cooking spray.

Once you take your cake out the oven, give it about ten minutes to cool down before tipping it onto a surface to cool. Sometimes if cakes are left in the tin too long after cooking it causes them to stick.

Check out Easy Off Oven Cleaner. They make a special one for self cleaning ovens that won't hurt the self cleaning part of the stove. Just use small amounts at the time.

Oil mystierously appears on bottom pan of oven, 465, when in use.

Larry,

Your stove has no parts that contain any type of oil or grease. It's possible that the prior owner accidently spilled some oil on the stove. I would continue to clean up the grease and hopefully it will all run down and after the clean up, it will disappear.

My soup spilled over on to my whirlpool ceran cooktop and i cant get the stains off. Is there a way to do it?

Is this a ceramic hob? If it is, you will need a ceramic hob cleaner (john lewis does one) OR Astonish oven/pan cleaner, a non-scratch washing-up sponge and a fair amount of elbow grease. This works for me.

We have a ge self-cleaning radiant range. I accidently spilled hot grease from steaks when I was removing them from the broiler. The grease dripped down inside the glass on the front of the oven. Is...

If you are saying that the grease got in between the layers of glass (lamination), then you will have to disassemble the door, clean the glass, and reassemble. I haven't done this job on your particular model, but have on others and it is a tedious & time consuming task.

If though the grease is just cooked onto the inner surface of the glass on the oven door, you could use a single edge razor to scrape the gunk off (being extremely careful not to flip the blade causing you injury), as you would ice off a windshield with an ice scraper. There are handles made to keep the blade secured while using it (making it less likely to flip and injure the user).
