    same problem

  • GettinGwap Mar 15, 2009

My laptop is an old Dell. It has XP as the OS though. Anyway, it used to be my father's and he gave it to me in November. It came with the mouse and it has been working fine. But two days ago, the mouse stopped moving the cursor. When I plug the USB portion in the port, one of two things happen. Sometimes it will work for five minutes or so and then stop working, or it won't work at all and the green light doesn't come on. Any ideas?

Well, I have tried to use the connect button under the mouse and I have also replaced the batteries but none of them seem to work.

I followed the steps in solution #1 and light connect light stopped flashing but the cursor still won't move. Any ideas?

Make sure you have new batteries and that there are no power cables close to the mouse or receiver, I have seen this cause problems many times.

Try pressing the connect button on the receiver then keep pressing the connect button on the mouse until the receiver light stops flashing.

Sometimes the connect button is under the battery cover for the mouse.

How do I connect a microsoft wireless moblie mouse 3000 to my laptop?

Press the button on the back of the mouse to free the battery cover on top.

Remove the battery cover and put the supplied AA battery into the mouse.

Replace the battery cover.

Insert the wireless USB dongle into a USB port on the laptop or desktop computer.

Move the mouse and watch your computer screen.

Confirm that the mouse is connected by making the cursor move.

Hope this helps

Make sure the mouse is turned on (power switch on the bottom) and then reconnect it with the USB receiver. Press the Connect button on the receiver, then press the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse.

You can go to : http://www.microsoft.com/enable/training/windowsme/mouse.aspx

That guide will give you directions to adjust your mouse properties. I am pretty sure your pointer speed is set to high.

USB mouse is jittery

Try the mouse on a different surface, also be sure you do not have any light directed at the mouse - this confuses the eye. Although no mouse pad is required for an optical mouse, sometimes it helps

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 Battery Problem

You say that this has been happening with a wired mouse as well?
In that case, you probably have a kind of virus/malware. Try this first:
http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/
Do a full system scan. You may have to temporarily disable/uninstall your current anti-virus if you have one already..
If not, try a system restore.

Mouse stopped working, but appears ok, batteries ok, can't determine problem

Hope this helps others. My mouse stopped controlling cursor but buttons worked. Problem was it would not work on a black table. Slip a piece of white paper under it and waaala! It works. I'm thinking optical mouse and dark surface might be an issue.

Pairing my Macally BT micro mouse

Q: After pairing my mouse, the button click works but cursor tracking does not move. What can I do?A: The cursor tracking problem is because red sensor LED is not on. Please try another set of battery or fully charge battery again, and verify if bottom red LED turns on. If red LED still does not turn on, please remove batteries from mouse, press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, next press and hold the left and right buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds, followed by several clicks. Install the battery into mouse, you should see red LED turns on, mouse cursor will move.
