If you have "Cable or Satelitte" your VCR may be hooked to a secondary output from that box not the output of the TV, most TV's do not have an Audio and Video output. This would be one reason why you could not record a PC input

SOURCE: Toshiba V231 UK VHS manual

Hello,

I believe you are using a RF wire Connecting a VHS, then searching TV station is an old way. I would recommend you use a RCA wire. By so doing, you won't need to tune any station on your TV. All you need to is select Source (AV) on the TV and the VHS would automatically display on your TV.

Below is what the RCA cord looks like:

walesarumi_111.jpg

The yellow stands for video (display), while the red and white stands for audio left and right (sound).

Purchase this cord from any electronics part store within your area, it's not expensive at all.

Look at the back of your TV, connect the yellow cord to "Video IN", connect the red and white to "Audio IN". Then connect the other end of the cord to Yellow: "Video OUT", and red or white to "Audio OUT", at the back of the VHS.

After the above connection, turn on the VHS, insert a tape, and press play. While the VHS is play, turn on the TV, select Source (AV) on your TV and your VHS will start displaying and you will hear sound.

I hope the above is clear. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Regards.

I have a apex tv and a dvd/vhs recorder, with a cable from wall only, how do I install

If you wish to record (VHS) off cable :
First connect the co-ax cable from the wall to the input on the DVD/VHS , then connect a second from the output of the DVD/VHS to the input of the TV.
You will need to match the channel (3/4) output and input. There should be a switch on the back of the DVD/VHS.
Tune the TV to channel 3 or 4 to match, To watch DVD/VHS .
Channel selection will be with the DVD/VHS when it is powered on.
TV will tune to channel when the DVD/VHS is off.

Can the LG 990W VHS VCR receive digital TV signal

VCR is analogue, However you can still use it to record digital programmes when connected via a digital set top box. You can only record the channel you have selected on the screen. In other words, you cannot record a channel programme while watching another channel. I use mine on a second TV and when recorded I take the tape out and put it into my main TV for viewing at a later date. I don't watch too much TV so it works fine for me for the odd programme.

Taping to vhs from digital cable

You do not need to leave the TV on. To get the clearest picture you should connect the AV cables (yellow, white, red) from the cable box to the VCR, and from the VCR to the TV. There should be a setting on both the TV and the VCR to set the input to VIDEO so you don't have to use channel 3. You can shut the TV off while recording if you want. Also be careful because if you use the channel guide or info button while recording, it will show up on the tape.

Quazar Model VHQ520/VHQ540 cannot record after inst Digital Conv

You need to set the vcr to channel 3 or 4 (whatever channel the digital converter box is set to broadcast on) to record a program. The digital converter box has to be set to the channel you want to record the show from.

Recording from tv to vhs

I would have the antenna hooked up to the VCR. Then you could select any channel that you wish to record on the vcr without the tv being involved.

I cannot record using a DVD/VHS player.

You can record. From antenna to converter box, from converter box to vcr. From vcr to TV.
TV on Channnel 3 VCR on channel 3, and set channel on converter box. Then Record.

Time recording works the same way, but you can set for only one channel at a time. Tht is the only restriction that I have not overcome. The converter box sets the channel. Gee Whizz

Record to vhs with converter box

I need to leave my TV on channel 3 and set the converter to the channel I want to record. When programming for future recording, it's always from channel 3, not the channel I want the converter displaying.

Cannot set Cable Default Channel

I believe you are getting mixed up between channels and programs. Normally program 00 is used for VHS as it has slightly different parameters for colour and brightness. If the TV has about 39 or more programs which can be programmed in from the on screen menu, try using program 20 for the video and 30 for the cable. For this to work you must do the on screen frequency scanning from channels 22 to 69 (UK) and select VCR, CATV, VHF, UHF, etc. I have used program 00 and 20 for two VHS recorders, working on channel 33 and 35 for example, but you must tune them to 33 and 35 on the `Tune' screwdriver hole by the aerial input sockets of the recorders. I expect if your cable unit plugs into your aerial socket of the TV that it has an adjustment for what channel it is on. The TV on screen menu may be different in some countries, so it would help if I knew where you are.
