I have a Ricoh RW7060-A CD/RW burner and have just installed Win2k.
The drive is not recognized at all, and I would like to know if there is
somewhere I can get drivers for this burner that allow it to function under
Win2k.
The Ricoh site was useless and MS Win2k wasn't much better.
Can this drive work in Win2k??
Michael

If there is absolutely no CD-ROM drive showing, then you need to start looking
for a BIOS flash.
If there is a CD-ROM drive there, but you can't burn, then look for an upgrade
to the Adaptec or Nero software. They are not free.

Actually, W2K solved all of the BS hardware problems I had with W98. Absolutely the best OS MS has ever produced, it will even install and work perfectly on my multimedia IBM Thinkpad 390X- all the hardware in the notebook as well as the NIC, video, and ports in the docking station worked with no additional drivers other than what comes in W2K!
However, MS does not recommend this OS for the casual user, it is designed for professional use in an enterprise setting. This assumes that there is consistency and quality with the base hardware it is installed on, as well as with the person(s) who will be administrating the machines - W2K, like all flavors of NT, demands that hardware and software configuration be done correctly.
I'm always amused when I see the NG posts like "I have a Celery 466 OC'ed to 933 and I can't get my ????? device to work under W2K" ... :

P.S.
Regarding the original post concerning a Ricoh 7060 CDRW in W2K, I have a Ricoh 7040 installed in one of my machines running W2K. I simply verified that the ASPI layer was installed and working properly in W2K, then I installed Adaptec EZCD 4.x and Clone CD 2.4 -it works fine with both apps...

Hi Gene!
Is the drive shown on system start in the bios?
Which Pio mode does it use?
Work the drive with an different OS in the same system?
Which IDE drivers are installed, perhaps VIA?
