Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

5300AiO won't print more than 1 page at a time

When trying to print a single document (using Word), the printer works well. If I try to print more than 1 (of the same document) at a time (multiples of 2 or more), the printer says, "Printing" and makes a little sound like it's printing 1 character at a time but it does not print. Both cartirges are new and although I've had the printer for almost a year, this is maybe the 5th time that I've used it and the first time I've tried to do multiple pages.

On the AiO I have selected "2" on the "Quantity" line and on the computer's "Print" window I have also selected "2". The problem persists. Anfer about 5 minutes the printer will eject 1 blank page.

Thank you for your replies. I will try to locate the CD and do what you suggest.

Thank you. I have reset to factory settings but since I am trying to print a test document I did not do what you suggest in your 2nd paragraph. The problem persists.

  • rlgittens Feb 02, 2009

I have tried everything suggested including reinstalling the EasyShare 5300 software from the CD, resetting factory defaults from the menu on the printer, checking # of prints selected on both the printer and on the computer and nothing has worked. The problem persists. Again, this is the first time that I've tried to print multiple copies of the same document from Word (and only the 5th time that I've used this printer). Printing 1 copy of the document works fine. Please help!

Please help! I've had this AiO 5300 for about 8 months but it's only been used about 5 times and never to print pictures. I am trying to print multiple copies of the same Word document. The printer will print a single copy of the document just fine but will not print 2 or more. I have reset all settings to factory default and reinstalled the software from the CD. I have checked the printer settings in the computer where I selected "2" in the "Print" window. When I click "OK" the printer cycles like it's going to print and the print status window says "Printing" but the percent complete bar doesn't go past 2%. The "Photo Paper Tray" is not engaged, the ink supply is new (just replaced today) and all connections are secure. Again, if I select "1" for number of copies it works fine. It will not print 2 or more. Please help!

Thank you for your reply. Do I understand that if reloading the drivers (from the CD) does not correct the problem there is nothing that I can do but manually print 1 copy at a time???

It looks to me that there is a firmware update for your computer that may address this problem.

Have you performed this update yet, as it sounds as though the issue is in the printer, not your computer.

I found the update for Windows XP, and I didn't look to see if there was one for Vista, but since it's an issue in the printer, I bet it doesn't matter.

Let me know if you need further instruction, or if this does, or does not, solve the problem.

Hi..when u print one single document it
prints very quickly and works well, but once
u print multiple pages one after the other it takes
time.It may not be quick.Printing a single page takes
less processing. But if u go for multiple pages of
printing it should continue the processing one after the
other.so this multiple pages printing will definitely print
slow.In the laser kind of printers it will be
possible whereas in the inkjet kind of printer it is little
inconvenient.
thank u..

The printer is in the memory short mode.its very rare for printers but its due to memore stanby mode.it does not detect more that 1 page.many a times reinstalling the printer drivers solves the problem.but its not a confirm solution.if that does not solves your problem.use single print per print you give.or change the printer.as the memory chip for the printer is not available.

Try checking that printer is not set to single page on paper source settings.

Try first checking that printer is not set to single page on paper source settings.

The problem is more likely with the paper feeding rollers not having enough grip on paper, this cause paper slipping on rollers, and will cause the printer not printing more than one page at once.

To fix the problem the printer must be taken apart, and the springs holding the rollers checked and eventually replaced.

Check also that the encoder strip, that is the plastic strip running aside the traction belt, is not dirty with ink. That can also cause similar problem.
If the encoder strip is dirty, clean it with cotton and isopropyl alcohol.

    Try also reinstalling driver software.

    To reinstall software,

    unplug printer USB
    Reinstall software from disk.
    Plug back USB when asked.
Set printer as default when asked.

If this is not a software or setting problem, then it is a mechanic fault, and in that case the printer must be taken apart to fix the fault.

If problem persists after resetting settings, and the printer can print some text, then it is probably a fault.

Do a last test , reinstalling software as soon as you find the disk.

If that does not work, then the printer is faulty.

The fact is that if this was not a setting or software problem, then it is an hardware fault.

Try putting more paper inside the printer, and using thicker paper, if this does not fix the problem you will need to service the printer.

Two side copy ka tareeqa tell me

DOUBLE SIDED PRINTING USING A SINGLE SIDED PRINTER

If your printer does not have a duplex unit then the printer cannot print double sided pages automatically.
You can print double sided pages but you have to do it one page at a time.
First print Page 1 then place the page back into the paper tray, but turn the page upside down and the print Page 2.
Then print page 3 on one side then page 4 on the other side and repeat for the rest of the document.
I suggest you try a test page first, to get the printing the right way up on both sides of the page so it reads correctly.

We installed our new lexmarkX5650 printer. We were able to get a good alignment page as well we got a good test page. However, we cannot print documents and the print queue disappeared off the computer?

1. clear all documents and then power the printer down. then restore power.
then try a single print. If the test print was good then it should print properly after this.
