Hello,
I'd like to start out by saying that I am a newbie to MP3 players so I
may be asking stupid questions.
I have started looking into getting an MP3 player and at this point
I'm not concerned at what brand to get but what type. I was wondering
which type of MP3 player is better, the digital MP3 player (ex.
Compaq-PA2-iPAQ) or the CD/MP3 player (ex. Riovolt). Based on what I
found out, the CD/MP3 player can hold more songs which is "burnt" on
to the CD as MP3 files, while the digital (based on how much memory
you have flash media/compact) holds quite less. I'm guessing the
digital MP3 has advantages such as no skip problems and more compact
(smaller). I was hoping someone can shed light on which type would be
better for someone who wants to be able to have a plethora of songs
but also the ease of mobility.
Also, can you use a car stereo adapter for the digital MP3 Player?
Thanks,
Flake

First one I bought was a Tomson Lyra, sent it back not very good avoid
it.Thee second a Cool Trax available on SCAN, much better , but it was
twice the price.
Regarding your questions:
CD/MP3 players can store a lot of songs but are a bit bulky and will
skip.
Solid state mp3 players will not skip , are a lot smaller, but will
have less capacity.
Shop around prices vary a lot. I amamge to get a Cool trax MP3 with
128mb on board memeory and 64mb flash card for ??120. This MP3 player
is threfore expandable and has a good on-board memory. Anything less
than 64mb on-board will mean you will not be able to get much more
than 1 cd on it.
Make sure you get a USB connection unless you want to wait all day to
transfer files via a serial port.(Main problem with Tomson Lyra)
Finally yes it will play through a car stereo with an ordinary CD
player adaptor.
Hope this helps.

about 12 music cd's on an mp3 cd. You probably wouldn't want to jog
with it. I find that I can take long walks if I hold it in my hand or
attach it so it dosn't get bumped. If I put it in a pocket on my
shorts, it skips. The Rio Volt dosn't have a car power adapter, but
you can get one from Radio Shack. It will use a cassete adapter.
