-   I took a bunch of pictures last month, and only now, when looking at the pictures, about 1/3 of them have a blue screen and say "File Error"! Help!! I hadn't uploaded these pics yet and would be very sad to lose them.

Try uploading the files to you computer from the camera/ try the stick in another reader A camera, a card reader on a computer or a processing station

- A New memory card is always an answer. However there may be valuable shots on the that need recovery.
Moreover if as 'Apprentice' you have to replace a card several times this does point to a camera fault not a card fault.r
