I am looking at buying a used Pfaff 1171 that looks very nice, but it stops working after a little while and has to cool down. Does anyone know if this an easy fix? Thank you. I do not own this machine yet. I want to know if anyone thinks I'm 'buying a pig in a poke' as it were.

My mother has had a Pfaff 1222 for 40 years and loves it. Take yours to a new/different repair shop or find an authorized place for an overhaul. It's not a lemon, just poorly maintained. you have a problem the service people just haven't figured out yet. If you have taken the same machine to the same people with the same problem more than once and they tell you it's a different cause every time, they are not competent. Also check the owner's manual for any tips.
