My laptop does not produce sound

When i try to play music on my windows media player it says: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly.

Windows Media Player C00D11B1 Windows Media Player can't play the file

Windows Media Player and other media players all have their limitations on what format they can handle.
I suggest you download and try other free media players such as the excellent Open Source VLC Media Player:

Good luck and have fun!

ps. You should specify what type of media you are trying to play!

Windows media player 11wont play backtrack line 6marked files

Go to Filehippo.com and download and istall K-Lite Codec Pack 5.90 (Full) it should beef up your windows media player to accommodate most codec's.

If that doesn't do the job, again from filehippo, download and install VLC Media Player.

Both programmes are freeware.

My laptop doesn't produce any sound.

Did you check start->control panel->system->hardware tab-> device manager and see if there are any errors related to your sound drivers? Probably see a yellow exclamation
