My daughters computer is only 4 months old and done this too, depending if it you have any power at all, if not this wont work. if you are getting power through it then this should work...
switch computer on then press and hold alt key then keep pressing f10, a screen will come up eventually with options, pick the option e acer restore, this will restore your computer to its as new factory settings, takes roughly 45 mins for this procedure to run but it works a dream

Such problems occurs due windows internal errors. I would suggest to fix windows errors, also scan PC for registry errors. WebRepOverall ratingThis site has no rating(not enough votes)

Acer latop shuts off randomly while playing bejeweled on facebook

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

I have a acer aspire 5735. I'm having problems with the operating system and the general performance of the laptop. It freezes, shuts itself down and takes about 20 minutes to start itself up properly....

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

Your machine may have a virus or a malware on it or the poor performance could also be caused by a corrupted OS. For these issues, it always best just to start over again.Luckily for your machine there is a very easy way to do this. just follow this simple instructions:

Step 1:
Click "Start" menu.
Step 2:
Click "Programs."
Step 3:
Click "Acer Recovery Management."
Step 4:
Click the "Restore" button on the bottom of the dialog box that opens.
Step 5:
Click "Restore System to Factory Default."
Step 6:
Click "Yes" in the warning dialog box which asks if you wish to continue the recovery process.
Step 7:
Click "Start" to restore the computer to the default factory settings.
Tips & Warnings
If you are unable to access the Start menu, use the recovery CDs that came with the computer or visit Acer's website.
Always make a back-up CD before restoring a computer to factory defaults.

Hope this helps!

I installed the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade (store bought) and now my Acer Aspire 5735 gets blue screens, shuts itself down, and random programs get the "**** has stopped working" message.

you shouldn't of installed it because if you would of ran the windows 7 compatibility thing that is on the disc, it would say that your computer is incompatible. You should buy another copy of windows xp and install that.

Does the acer aspire 5735-6694 have built in bluetooth

Yes it does, and you can download the driver here. Before you do, there are two things you should check. 1st see if the device is already installed, and whether the system thinks it is functioning properly, or if it is disabled. To do this: 1.) Click Start > Right Click My Computer > click properties > Click the Hardware tab (at the top) > click Device Manger. Scroll down to Bluetooth, and double click it. 2.) On the general tab, it will say whether the device appears to be working properly or if it is not or disabled. If it isn't listed or not working properly, reinstalling it from that link may help.

If that doesn't resolve it, my 2nd suggestion is click Start > Control Panel, Bluetooth, and see if it is disabled.

Please let me know if I can be of further assitance.

Acer 5735. There is no help section file on the recovery discs and they do not run automatically How is the recovery carried out?

I believe your operating system is windows vista. If you are running windows vista, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the start menu
  2. Click All programs
  3. Scroll down to Backup and Recovery
  4. Carefully follow the instructions.
Or shut down your system, turn it on again. On the first black appearance screen, look downwards, you will see "press F11" or whatever, press it and allow it to load.

Usually HP's Recovery Disk is F11.

I wish you the best of luck.

Take care
