Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Window says there is a scanner failure.

There is a rhythmical clicking sound from the right rear side of the machine and the window says there is a scanner failure. It advises to turn off then on, the power. This does not resolve the problem. I am unable to print or copy while the machine is in this state, Any ideas?

I recently had the same problem, and it is a very easy fix. What you have to do is remove the top and clean the underside of the glass. There is a white strip that lets the scanner know its in the home position. Pop off the control panel cover. Remove the 3 torque screws in the rear and the one on the right. VERY carefully release the buttons for the control panel with the tabs in front and slide out, careful there is a control ribbon underneath so be gentle. Then from the front there are tabs on each side to release the top. Clean glass and replace, should work good as new.

I can not scan from my HP Photosmart C7180 All in one. Mac OSX 10.6.8 I can copy, print but not scan.

Launch the OSX system preferences, click on the Print & Scan Icon located in the Hardware row, select your printer in the left hand column, click the Scan button above the right hand box, click on the Open Scanner button, a new window will open, click on the scan button in the upper right hand corner of that new window, set your document on the flat glass panel of your multi function printer/scanner, and click the scan button located in the lower right hand corner of the window, once scanning is complete, your document image should appear in a new window and save the image from there.

I have a canon MG5220 printer and unable to scan properly the messages I receive are saying Scanner turned off, disconnected from LAN, code 2,145,50. Printing pictures and all other printing jobs work...

Regarding the Cannon scanner error 2145,50. I note you have tried to fix this, but failed. The actual problem is that the scanner will not communicate with the computer correctly if it is connected through a USB hub. A direct connection to the computer cures it.
I know, I had that problem. I am a retired elctronics design engineer.

Scanner locked

The left of the scanner glass/window, there is another narrow window where you should be able to see the scanner head. The scanner head on mine was locked at a slight angle in this window. an extremely thin kitchen knife in on the right side of the narrow window, between the edge of the window and the narrow plastic strip. able to push the locked end of the scanner head down with the knife by prying the knife up and down between the glass window and the plastic. The end of the scanner towards the back of the printer was locked on mine and it was slanted towards the left side of the printer. After a couple minutes of prying and pushing down on this end, it popped free!

I have been able to install the driver of the scanner, the problem is i dont see the "scanner icon" on the desktop which im supposed to click to start the main window and start scanning. pls

Hi

You can go to your program files on Drive C: when you explore your computer, look for the icon for scanner on Canon folder and right click on it, you can either copy and drag it on your desktop or right click and create a shortcut.

Hope this helps

When I turn the printer on, a rhythmic banging sound starts

Is the scanner transport lock engaged?

This is either a screw, pin, Clip, Slideswitch or button that keeps the delicate scanner head from moving during shipment.

Look for it in the back and on bottom. If that isn't it, then the driver circuit for the stepping/space positioner motor is bad and you need a techie like me to fix... or just get a new AIO for $39.95 from Wal Mart.

Scanner failure

i fixed the problem, you need to have it off course the scanner is making that awful clicking noise because its stuck and need to be lubricated, just remember i know this is going to hurt but give the scanner a good bank on the right side of the scanner.....it will align it self back trust me it works....then lubricate it with of sewing machine oil or wd40 good luck
