My dryer continues to cut off during drying cycle. While trying to determine the problem. I set a cycle of cotton towels then paused the cycle opened the door about 10 minutes into the cycle then checked for heat and unit seems to be operating normally. I closed the door hit the pause button again to resume operation. Unit came on and started cycle. About 10 more minutes went by and did the same, hit pause button checked for heat and feel towels for dryness and all good. Hit the pause button to resume and the unit died and all lights went out on front panel. Light inside the unit works when door is open. Any suggestions as to what may be the problem?
I had a tumble dryer that stopped working and after much investigation it turned out to be an internal thermostatic switch and lots of fluff around the internal filters. ( Mine had 2 of them 1 would cut the heat and kick back in when the temperature dropped and the other one would completely cut all power rendering the drier non usable until cicuit breaker thermostat was replaced. The reason they cut out is to prevent overheating and possible fire. When the thermostat gets to certain temperature it breaks the circuit. Apparently you shouldn't stop the drier until it has completely cooled down as there will be too much heat which could cause a fire, which is why most drier cycles have 10 minutes of cool/ non heated air at the end. So in conclusion I would take all the filters out and give them a good clean and try to avoid opening the door while there is still a lot of heat in the drier. I'm not sure if this will help but its a starting point.
Simon, I have taken off the vent hose and cleaned, cleaned the filter with soapy water and nylon brush, vacuumed the front inside area under the lint screen and also where the house attaches to the back and vacuumed up in the unit. After it does cool down it does start back up and run. I only found one filter screen that was the one that is removable. Is there another one located in the unit and if so, where would it be? Also, where is the internal thermostatic switch located, and how to access?
Sounds like your on the right track, mine is a different brand to yours but I can't imagine they'd be that much difference. I had to take the back off mine ( after unplugging etc) to get to switch it should be near the air duct where the hot air blows into the drum or near the heating element. I'm not sure how many filters yours has got ill see if I can find a manual,
Thanks! I appreciate all the information.
I just placed it on a speed cycle on highest temperature and it ran for 25 minutes without stopping but have yet to try it on a longer cycle.
Www.lg.com . The manual is a bit generic and doesn't answer a lot of questions. A few things to consider which you probably have already. Leave a gap between the wall and machine, make sure the vent is piped outside, I'm not sure what else to suggest other take the back off and have a look if feel you need too.

This sounds as if the internal fuse has blown. I am assuming you have checked the breakers as well. The starter switch might be bad.
