I have the same laptop (love it). It depends on where you bought it. If you bought it from a retail store, you probably got a trial version and have to purchase the full version. If you ordered it online, you may have paid for the version to be pre-loaded (you would have been sent the cds). Right click the icon and go to properties. It should tell you there if it is a trial. You probably have Microsoft Works on there and you just have to buy a program that is compatible with Works (most are). We bought from BestBuy and had to then purchase the software, which was about 1/2 the price at BB than other places, even Sams Club. I had to buy the business 2007 software, not the home and student, but the same applies. Also, when you buy it, you should be able to load it onto up to three of your computers. The people at BB were very helpful to me. I was totally clueless!

Hi, the full edition would need to be purchased. Then Microsoft would give you a product code to unlock the program for your machine.

The difference between two keys

Your Operating system (OS) is Windows Vista, and its product key is printed on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA). Usually found on the bottom of a laptop or side/rear of your PC.
Miscrosoft Office is your Office software (word processor / database / spread sheet etc.) This usually comes pre installed on a new laptop to TRY. If you want to use it after the trial period has ended you need to buy a product key.
You can use a free office suite if you cant afford MS office. Open office is free and nearly as good. http://www.openoffice.org/

Dear Expert I am using Windows Vista TM Home Premium at my Notebook Pc( HP Pavilion dv-5) with Microsoft office 2007 since last 01 year. My excel files are not opening and I am receiving following message...

maybe you relocated the file itself, check first if the file you are opening is still in its original location on your hard drive, if not, manually open it by double clicking, do not open it inside microsoft excel.

My product Key on the bottom of my Gateway laptop doesn't work

The key on the bottom probably is labelled "Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" or "Microsoft Vista Home Premium", not "Microsoft Office Professional 2007". Look elsewhere for the key for Office.

Or, take "everything" back to the store that sold you the computer,
and get them to show you which key is which -- they took your money, and they "owe" you at least some "post-sales-support".

I just bought a new dell inspirion 1318 due to my old laptop crashing. I had purchased Office small business 2007 when I bought the first laptop. I am trying to install it and after I put in the code it...

I think you have stumbled onto the problem Windows comes in two versions...32 bit and 64 bit. It sounds like you have a new laptop with 64 bit operating system, where as your old system was 32 bit. You can confirm it by going to Start >Control Panel >System and look for the line System Type under System section. It will tell you what type it is. Look at your Office package and it will most likely say 32 bit on it.

Here's a link to Microsoft which will explain the difference and answer many questions.

Microsoft Office 2003 Professional - Picture manager

Fixed the problem - Even though the pc checks for updates automatically I should have checked to see if there were any available updates at the microsoft website. There were 3 available and once downloaded and installed the picture manager part of office suite professional 2003 is now working just fine!

Cant install software

Yes, Office Home and Student 2007 is compatible with your laptop. One question: are you trying to enter your activation product key into the installed version of Office 2007 trial that is on the laptop? It will not work, if you are.

You need to contact Microsoft, and they will help you with your problem. If I were you, I would start HERE.
