You may be maxed out now and you are sharing some ram with your onboard display adapter/graphics card.

If you want to I can find out for certain. But, the 700 is a series model. There should be more complete detail on the bottom of the laptop on a sticker such as 710 or 710a, or it will be 700. So, verify that and I'll look it up for you.

Its 12:30am Pacific Standard Time where I am. If I don't here from you in an hour or so, I'll do the look up tomorrow. Are you already aware of the type of memory your laptop takes or do you need that too?

    Regards,
    Worldvet

My presario 700 has a memory of 240mb, not quite sure, but can it be upgraded? up to what maximum ram?

hi,

yup your memory can still be upgraded up to its maximum supported RAM of 384 mb with a RAM technology SDRAM

note:
upgrading your RAM to that size doen't make major difference to its performance and you can't hardly notice it difference.

We ran a typical Compaq presario cq60 battery of tests, including games, applications, and a couple other areas. Time constraints limited the amount of testing we could get done before the NDA lift (and it's already a few hours late), but we will be providing a follow-up article with further testing and information. That said, if there are any specific areas that you'd like to see tested, feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment.

Hi i have compaq presario c700 its too slow discr

If you have changed OS, your problem probably is not due to malware or bloat.
Upgraded to 2gb ram, new hard drive. And still you think it is too slow.
I think either you are too fussy, and expect too much OR your laptop has major problems at a chipset level.
Have you tried running some benchmark software to check if it really is running slow???

I would Do a fresh install of windows, SELL it and change to a different model.
Try checking a couple of reviews on sites like Custom PC, for a good fast laptop.

Determine the amount of Memory (RAM) installed in the computer.

Using Windows XP, click Start
Right-mouse-click on My Computer.
Click Properties.
On the page that is displayed will be the CPU-type, CPU-speed, and amount of available RAM.

Or, press CTRL-ALT-DELETE and click 'Task Manager'.
Click 'Performance'.
The 'Physical Memory' is the amount of available RAM.

On some computers, the video-card "steals" from the installed RAM,
i.e., 512MB installed, 32MB "stolen", leaving 480MB "available".

Have you cleared the temporary internet files? Also, download ccleaner (its free) this will delete unneeded files from the registry. You should also run and antivirus and antispyware program followed by defragging the hard drive. That should improve your speed.
