Question about Computers & Internet
My computer has been messing up
due to a really bad trojan/virus that i can't get
rid of, so i decided to try the Dell™ PC Restore by Symantec
method. So i follow the instructions, but im stuck where
it says to press the ctrl + f11 buttons and what not..
so i do that and
it goes to a how to run the system screen,
safe mode (xxxxx)
last good known config
it doesnt show anything for the PC Restore thing..
it's really confusing..
how would i know if my pc has the hidden partition
or see if it even ever existed and what not..
the pc was purchased jan 07
and i can't recall if it came with the recovery discs
it is a Dell OptiPlex 745 running on Windows XP home
When you turn it on, hit ESC then right before the screen changes
you have to press
F11 all at once
it will take numerous times....but will get you into the restore partition

If you bought the PC Jan 4th this year, then it's still under warranty. Call Dell and they will walk you through the problem. Hope this helps.

The Dell OptiPlex 745 dosent have the option for the dell pc restore. that comes standard on the inspiron dimensions and some vostros. If you have the partition then you created it. If not you are out of luck and need to OSRI like windowsrestall.com.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

you need to press F8 while the pc is booting for a startup in safe mode, then when in safe mode select start windows in safe mode, go to my computer, properties>system restore tab and turn off system restore and then run the scan again as these trojans cannot be deleted when the pc is in normal use.
If your antivirus finds them but cannot heal, make a note of the file that has the trojan and then search for the file and delete it manually.
Ensure after the trojans are deleted that you tuirn system restore back on
