My computer has been messing up due to a really bad trojan/virus that i can't get rid of, so i decided to try the Dell™ PC Restore by Symantec method. So i follow the instructions, but im stuck where it says to press the ctrl + f11 buttons and what not.. so i do that and it goes to a how to run the system screen, ''safe mode safe mode (xxxxx) last good known config start normal''
it doesnt show anything for the PC Restore thing.. it's really confusing.. how would i know if my pc has the hidden partition or see if it even ever existed and what not..
the pc was purchased jan 07 and i can't recall if it came with the recovery discs it is a Dell OptiPlex 745 running on Windows XP home
The Dell OptiPlex 745 dosent have the option for the dell pc restore. that comes standard on the inspiron dimensions and some vostros. If you have the partition then you created it. If not you are out of luck and need to OSRI like windowsrestall.com.

It's because due to system worms and and trojans viruses it can affect your administrator account via automatically changing your password. best advice reformat your hard drive or fully scan your system through a licensed anti virus so that it will get rid all system malfunctions and viruses.
i recommend using adaware free edition from www.lavasoft.de also search for combofix.exe it is very helpful in removing alot of viruses.and don't forget you can always do system restore that works most of the time.just run the syastem resore wizard and choose a date when you know your computer was not infected.don't worry it won't erase any files, just puts the registery back in order.if you dont know how to use system restore, goto start menu and click help and search for system restore
The best thing for you to do is to recover your computer back to the way it wasy when you purchased it. Warning, you will lose all data you have on your computer so you need to make sure you have a backup. You need to boot off of the operating system cd that came with your Dell. Once that's loaded, then you need to run the cd that says applications and drivers, and follow the instructions for your computer that comes onscreen.
2) Download Spybot S&D. This is a really good bit of software that should get rid of it much more easily for you, and will probably get rid of other similar stuff on your pc. Follow the link below and then install the program, then scan the system, then fix problems.
Run a virus scan and see what comes up.
If there are viruses on the computer, you may want to consider Restoring your computer to factory settings.
But before you do that
Run a virus scan; go to Symantec and run it or download AVG free.
If you decide to restore to factory settings, I will be glad to help you. Understand, you will loose everything on the computer, and you will have to run all your programs again, set up your network connection and email. Very time consuming.
