Usually Norton uses alot of your ram, if it is possible uninstall norton and install another antivirus, you can try to use avast antivirus. There is a free edition for home users to download athttp://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html, and do not forget to registeron the same site, its free. It works pretty well. if this does not work go to http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm this should solve your problem.
