Uninstall first the previous one from the settings, control panel, add remove programs, then remove realtek driver from it. after removing, install a fresh copy of realtek sound driver that is goes with the soundcard. It should be its own sound driver. be aware of the version of it.

No sound for my onboard sound card the sound card is realtek product AC97

There are two variations of that driver, AC97 or AC97 HD, both are available from the Realtek website.

Post your results here or any error messages you may receive during install of those drivers so that I may follow up with you if necessary. You may also want to provide additional details such as the make and model of your machine or the type of motherboard so I can verify the exact audio chipset.

No audio

Open your computer then boot to safe mode(press F8), go to add/remove programs then uninstall the toshiba audio driver, also check on the Device Manager if it is still there then uninstall it. Reboot the computer to normal mode then install the toshiba audio driver again. Be sure to have the correct driver downloaded.
