Question about HP PSC 1610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Cannot boot up Windows XP except in Safe Mode

I do not know what corrupted the boot process on XP, but suddenly I can't boot up except in Safe Mode. I have tried restoring to an earlier time and booting to last known configuration with no luck either way. Any solution?

Sounds like adaware32 worm if and when you get it up and on-line go to microsoft and post your issue. A lot of XP updates are being hijacked and i suggest you download the Mozilla Firefox as a back up for surfing... Good luck, Sea Breeze

Continuously rooboot itself?

Hi.

When the laptop keeps rebooting shortly after Windows starts loading the reason is usually because the system files loaded by Windows at startup are corrupted.
Windows cannot complete booting and keeps restarting.
The fastest way to Fix the problem is by reinstalling Windows.
If Windows is installed on the same directory of the existing system performing an upgrade installation, the setup process will preserve all personal files, most installed software and settings.
Before reinstalling Windows you can try starting in safe mode (eg. on XP pressing f8 on startup). If the computer starts in safe mode, go to system restore and perform a restore to a date before the problem occurred. Unfortunately when the computer keeps re-booting ut will hardly start in safe mode. Often reinstalling Windows is the only option available.

Hi

Unfortuantley if you cannot get into safe mode, then windows is stuck ina loop, the easiest thing would be to reformat the machine and reinstall windows

Samsung r40 not loading xp

If the computer boots in to safe mode fine, you more than likely have a virus or spyware interfering with the boot process.

Windows also could have corruption on it.
Insert your windows XP CD and boot the computer, you may need to set your boot order in BIOS so tht CD is first.

Once the CD loads Run the recovery console Select 1 for the C: drive if it asks for a password this is generally blank or will be the password on the "Administrator" account you see when you boot to windows in safemode

Once in the recovery console do a chkdsk /f command
This is will check for errors on the disk and can fix a lot of boot issues
I would also suggest typing the command mbrfix to replace the master boot record.

If it still will not boot you may need to reinstall windows xp

Won't boot past Windows XP main screen. Windows XP may have a corrupt file. How do I correct without full recovery?

Try starting in Safe Mode and check if you can start it? In case it starts in Safe Mode, you may do the system restore to the date it was working fine.

Won't boot - brief blue screen

Press F8 while booting but before it goes into SAFE mode select "Temporarily disable restart." Now you should be able to read the Blue Screen. If this doesn't work it's likely you have the GenericFX virus and you'll need to repair the operating system.

Boot up does not complete all the way

Can run BartPE that allows you to boot into XP on CD and fix the problem or replace missing files. This process does not always work right. The best bet is to get another HDD (hard drive) connect it where the original one was. Then install a fresh copy of XP on it. Then migrate the data you want off the older HDD. But making it a slave. The orginal one is called Master but there is also CS cable select more of automatic process.

If you don't want to replace the HDD you can still run the BartPE but the system you have there is unstable as you can't even get into the Safe Mode. If you could get into the safe mode I can tell you all you had to do is backup favorites, desktop, history, cookies and web links, then delete the profile or user name. That would create a new profile for that user under XP.
