Re: can't get sound when used as computer monitor
Comp sound Tv Your cable must be a minijack to 2RCA. Minijack connected at line out on computer and 2RCA at AV1 in or other available port in on TV (white and red socket). That is sound only. Video will be yellow (or vga/DVI/HDMI depending on graphic card)from your graphic card to AV1 in. same port as sound. Now select AV1 on tv. If no picture on tv make sure you computer graphic cardis set for dual display .

Now i assume you have connected the Computer using a VGA cable ( 15 D pin connector )because if you had used an HDMI cable the sound would have come by default. The VGA cable only carries analogue Video signals. So you will have to get 3.5 mm phono to 2 RCA cable to connect the sound out of the PC to the TV's audio in socket ( next to the VGA socket labeled audio IN )
Check if you would have the same if you use a different signal source. Another DVD Player, a playstation or other AV devices. The source or the TV may not be understanding each other, one may be sending analog signals while TV is only recognizing digital.
Hook The VGA Cord (PC INPUT) into Your Laptop's Hookup Spot Turn The TV Input to VGA Or PC or Computer and on the Laptop it should show up if you Hit The Function Key + F8 If You Are using A Desktop Hook It To the VGA Out Just Like You Where Hooking Up To A Computer and Turn The INPUT on the TV to VGA or PC or Computer and it should show up just like A Computer Monitor
You have to buy a adaptor for coaxial to television antenna hook-up. One side is used to hook up the cable to and the other side is to hook up to you televisions antenna's screw hook-up. These adaptors can be bought in most electronic stores and you should be able to find them on line. Just use google for cable to television adaptors. I hope this helps you with your problem.
Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items on the board that the power cord is hooked to.If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again. So far I have fixed four of the same make, and model TV as this, and they all had either one,or two bad capacitors.I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!
